    They loved it! Not perfect thoughI purchased this as a present for my friends who were moving out of town in a new apartment. They love backgammon and their current set was old. They were super happy with this so I'm glad I purchased this. The overall design is very aesthetically pleasing and feels premium. It's nice that it has space for storing the checkers.However for the price I paid I think it could've been better. Why? The checkers seemed cheaply made and plastic which kinda did not make sense. They seemed out of place in an otherwise premium backgammon board. Obviously the checkers are a big part of a backgammon set and so I felt that their poor quality reduced the overall feel of the set. Anyhow overall I'm still happy I got this given the other options available on amazon. 4Looks like a very expensive set, reasonably priced.Just bought this game for my grandson for Christmas. Can't wait until he opens it. The box is nice and large and the wooden inlays are very rich and elegant looking. It has the appearance of a very high end game, but very reasonably priced. 5Nice, but be careful opening the box!!!Overall a nice board and parts. It does have a few minor distracting "features" (would have liked greater contrast for the dark points, heavier pips and a better latching system (uses 4 magnets)). But more of a concern, this was drop-shipped to me from the manufacturer in non-Amazon Prime packaging. Be extremely careful opening the set. I used a pocket knife to slit the shipping tape, as I always do, but there's a wide gap in the cardboard flaps and nothing to protect the surface of the box except a cellophane wrapper. Had I cut a fraction of an inch deeper I probably would have scored the otherwise handsome inlaid box's exterior with my knife blade. Wow - that could have been a disaster since this is a gift!! Be careful! Yellow Mountain - slap a small piece of cardboard or Styrofoam in there to protect the box from this imminent danger!! Or put a sticker on the box to open without a knife!! 4My wife and I enjoy Backgammon. The game set is very nice to ...My wife and I enjoy Backgammon. The game set is very nice to look at and play. However, its construction is poor. After carefully using the set for 3 weeks, it now will not completely close leaving a 1/4 inch open gap. The inlaid magnets are too weak to pull the lid closed. 3Unfortunate...I truly wanted to love this set, however, I just received it and will be returning it unfortunately. First, the board itself is gorgeous, nonetheless, the darker points blend in with the background making it difficult to keep track of moves. Next the checkers are incredibly cheap looking. The shade of the brown pieces is the most undesirable I've ever seen. Lastly, and this could be me being super picky, the dice are a bit too colourful for my taste. At nearly $50, I feel the manufacturer should have put more thought into the details, and if need be charged more to add a more sophisticated quality to a beautiful board. 3First class service and first class product.The delivery time was excellent and it arrived in perfect condition. The product, an inlaid hardwood Backgammon set, is exactly as the supplier 'Yellow Mountain Imports' described and my wife and I are delighted with it and it is a pleasure to use. I must add a little on Yellow Mountains' service: one of the red dice came with a slight flaw, almost nothing. However, I contacted Yellow Mountain and advised them and they sent to me (all the way to New Zealand) a replacement set of dice. This is what I call fantastic service - well done Candice and Penny. 5Excellent product and quick shippingThis is a gift for my daughter and when I got it I was surprised at how well finished and lovely it is. It seems much more costly than it was. I am a wood worker, we make furniture, so I really appreciate how well made this is. I love it being all wood and not plastic! It arrived very fast too! I would recommend this to any person I cared for. I also liked the magnetic catches embedded to hold the game closed when not in use. The game pieces are smooth plastic, nice feeling. 5This set warps.When I first received this set, one of the pieces was missing. The supplier did send me a replacement part, but it took 2-3 weeks before I received it. After having this set for a few months, it started to warp. The closing device consists of two sets of magnets. With the warping, one side would not close so the single set of magnets would not keep the set closed. Then when I used the set last night, it had warped so much that the two dice cups would not fit into the set. The dice cups held the top from closing because the center of both sides of the set had warped so much it made the inside of the set too small to hold the dice cups. Seeing I travel to my backgammon meetups, the pieces are not contained in the set and can be easily lost, and the warping in the center of both sides is making the set pretty much unusable. 2Very nice!I'm impressed with the quality of this game board and pieces. It appears that all parts are real wood and veneers and the exterior satin finish is very good. Even the cups are made of wood! The brass-colored hinges are a bit light and the walnut and mahogany veneered points don't offer as much color contrast as painted or fabric surfaces, but those are extremely picky criticisms for what is a heck of a good backgammon set for the price. The set has a very nice upscale look whether open or closed. 5For the price, it is a great game.Most of the games I saw were around 70 dollars but this one is about 30. This game is wooden, it has hand carved cups and nice large pieces. The dice are nice. The only issues I have are that the board is very light, which could be good or bad depends, I like a heavy one but this is still well made. The only other issue is that the colors are not very easily distinguished. Yet for the price I paid and the way it is made it is all in all a very good game. I would recommend rather than blowing 70 dollars or more on a game that will be about the same but just extremely overpriced. I really like it and we have played it and seem to have no problems so far. I would tell others to buy it! 5
