Customer Reviews

WARNING!! Steer Clear of This One!!What!? Other people reviewing this product Rubik's 4x4s that come apart! Boy, I wish!!By what I can see, this Winning Moves Rubik's (with stickers) is so poorly designed and crafted that I'll need to get inside and sand down all the burrs, flack, and misaligned surfaces and then give it a good lube job. Unfortunately, I can't get the thing to come apart!!I use twisty puzzles for physical rehabilitation after damaging the nerves to my fingers. I have numerous puzzles including three 4x4x4s, a LanLan 6.5 cm Speed Cube (tiles), a Meffert's Challenge (tiles) for speed cubing, and now this one. The LanLan is loose, smooth, and required no lubrication. It simply works. If anything, it's too loose -- almost sloppy. The Meffert's needed lubrication and several tiles fell off during shipping. The zip-lock kept them from getting lost. If nothing else, it's a good thing the poorly glued tiles came to my attention before tragedy struck (losing them; choking hazard). The Meffert's has become my "user" cube.I now own three Rubik's brand cubes: the Ice Cube 2x2x2 (very sticky turning; no way to deburr or lube), this thing, and my old original Rubik's Cube from 1981. The old one is sticky, too, but what do you expect after 30 years of coagulating dirt and grease? Besides, it responded like a champ to a good cleaning and lube. 1Absolute CRAPThis cube is the absolute worst I have ever used. It was not smooth at all and hung up on itself almost ever turn. Worst of all, there was some mechanical linkage between the top and bottom faces no matter how you held the cube. If you sun the top face the bottom would spin also. If you spun the bottom the top would spin also. I was hoping this would sort itself out, but in the middle of turning, it got stuck on itself and then came completely apart. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING ELSE WITH THE RUBIK NAME ON IT. CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! 1My Rubik's Revenge from the 1990s is better.Compared to my V Cube 4, this think is a trainwreck. It's very difficult to turn and when you turn one side the other side wants to turn in the opposite direction. The "flat" sides are actually slightly concave. While it "works", this is NOT an enjoyable version of the toy. My Rubik's Revenge from the 1990s is better. 1Come one, come all Rubick's collectorsI have a strange loyalty to the brand name Rubick's I own many variants of the puzzle cubes (Lan Lan, Shenshou, Dayan etc..) but the brand recognition offered by Rubick's is something i personally am tickled by.Unbiased opinion: this cube takes a long time to break in. the stickers began to peel long before I was used to the feel of this cube. You have to touch it with so much more of your hands and fingers, that it causes a higher rate of peeling than it's smaller brother. I feel that Rubick's should go sticerless on all of it's cubes, but then again I am not the CEO.Get it to learn the 4x4x4 and then buy a faster speed cube for improved solve times. Any other cube out there will be a jump forward. 3Fun toy that requires you to use your brain. This one is too hard for me.While I am able to solve the standard Rubik's cube fairly easily, I am having a hard time with this one. It maybe a little too difficult for me. I refuse to look up the algorithms that are available on the internet and YouTube that would solve it for me because to me it seems like it's cheating and I just don't want to study how to play with a toy. So, I have retired this one. I gave it away to a friend in the hospital. I still play with the original when I feel like playing with one.I have been relying on these reviews for my own purchase decisions for many years. I recently started posting reviews because I am disabled and have free time. I hope my reviews are helpful. I only post a review after I have used the product for an adequate amount of time to have a basis for an opinion and I update my reviews if my opinion changes. If you found my review to be helpful, please check the "yes" box. If I find that my reviews aren't helping anybody then I'll stop and find a better use for my time. Thank you and good luck. 4It also smelled bad. The cube itself is unstable and cheapThis cube is awful. I played with it 2 times and 3 pieces fell apart. When I picked them up and tried to fix it, the insides were wet and sticky. It also smelled bad. The cube itself is unstable and cheap. If you want to buy a rubix cube, don't buy this one.. 1dont listen to the hatersIf your familiar with rubiks 3x3 (especially getting one new) then you'll be very satisfied with their 4x. Resolved the peeling sticker issue with seamless plastic plates (stickerless) and has the same feel in turning as a fresh new rubiks 3x. It takes more getting used to the extra row then actually having to break it in. As a logical human being, you'll understand that when it binds up you cant just muscle it into position without breaking the thing (causing cubesplosions as shown in some other reviews) but with a touch of finesse, the edges slide into position as you'd expect. Operates smooth like the 3x Ive come to know and love, and comes with new algorithms and complications to add satisfying complexity to the puzzle. Well worth the $15 and the good name. The naysayers are simply heathens. 5One star, if that. Complete waste of money. Company should be ashamed of manufacturing such a piece of garbage!Horrible. Piece of Junk. Worthless. Bad. Everything that previous reviews have stated...This Rubik's cube is a complete waste of money! It literally broke within 10 minutes of giving it as a Christmas present. The damage is irreparable. Really poorly made product. It was an embarrassment to have given it. The package claims to be "the original cube", which is why I bought it. If it was a "knockoff" I would say it was my fault for buying cheap imitations. You probably will be better off with an imitation. At least if it breaks, you probably won't be out the $20.As of the date of writing of this review, I believe the company that I bought it from is no longer selling the Cube.Do I recommend it? Heck no! Neither does the 13 year old who it was given to as a gift!!! 1Parts fell apart within first 30 mins!I got this for our 8 years old son who s mastered solving 2x2 and 3x3 already. After him playing with this for less than 30 mins, parts starting fall apart. And suddenly all parts fell off except for 3 corners. We worked so hard to super glue the corners back on so we thought we can put parts back on. However super glue didn t hold corner parts in place like we wanted, but parts kept falling off. After a day of work, our 4x4 still looks like this. (Trying to have corner parts stuck in places by different glue now...doesn t look like it s working tho)Contacted customer service and we are waiting for the replacement now. However, honestly, I m quite skeptical about it. You can t move smooth like it says, it gets stuck all the time, and we aren t the first one experiencing parts falling apart issue. Poorly structured, I think. 1Tough to solve (and turn at first). After mastering the 3x3 I needed an extra challenge. As will all new cubes it was a little tough turning for the first week or so. It loosened up some but still is not as easy to turn as a 3x3, but maybe that's just me. I knocked a star off as a few pieces fell off while I was trying to make a couple moves. I would say it was due to a combination of the cube being a little to hard to turn and a lack of patience on my part. 4
