Octopi have beaks. The beak apparently opens and closes too it's not just a cone beneath the tentacles. It's really weird that octpi have beaks. And that I've learned this much about octopi.It's good.10/10 5If you love squids and desperately need a plush squid this is ...If you love squids and desperately need a plush squid this is honestly, truly, the ONLY squid for you. It is soft and lovable and at just the right age (length). Anatomically correct for those nit picking giant squid loving people. My five year old just received this as a birthday gift two and a half days ago and it has not been put down. It was love at first sight and all other present buying attendees were quite disappointed because we didn't open another gift. His first bike? Poo poo. We have a 22" plush squid.I'm not joking.Her one ear (ink sac) is again, correct as far as squids go, but the two double stitches to hold it to the body have already been ripped off so it is only partly attached. Anyways, I see some dirty, dragged tentacles and arms in the future but she should hold up for a very long time.UPDATE:It's been a long year and a half, full of love, and now Hari, our giant squid, is a grandma squid. She has been washed, slept with, and dragged 1,200 miles to Florida (to meet her squid family-including Molly the Mollusk: her 27 foot mom) and has held up beautifully. Her once silky soft exterior is no longer. Her color has dulled a bit, but not too much. She still has all of her arms and tentacles. Though, the stitching that makes the top fold over the bottom (right above the eyes) and gave her that additional life-like feature has come apart. Now, these were just a few stitches and I didn't expect them to last. If I was a good mother I could easily take 5 minutes to sew it....but I'm not, so I won't. I don't remember how much I paid for this thing but they were selling for around $25 in the aquarium gift shop. Well worth the $$! 52 thumbs (tentacles?) up for this squid!My daughter bought this squid for her little brother when he was sick, with her own gift card she received for Christmas. I was worried she was wasting her money on a small cheaply made plush toy, but I am pleased at the softness and quality of this squid. I can't believe I am reviewing a stuffed squid on Amazon, but I wanted to give a bit of feedback since there aren't a lot of realistic looking "stuffed sea creatures" available for wanna-be future marine biologists like my son! I don't know what was sweeter...her excitement to buy it for him or the look on his face when she gave it to him!(I did have to sew a tentacle back on as it was lost in a "deep sea battle" with a sting ray, but the surgery went well and the squid has recovered!) 5Soft, cuddly and well made!Bought this for my grandson (age 4 1/2) who loves all sea life but especially squids! Well, he has not put it down for long since he got it in his Easter " basket from me. He loves it and its especially important to him that they remembered to put the "beak" on the squid when they made it AND the part that squirts the ink!! He was quite impressed! He can't wait to take it to show & tell next week! Its even soft and cuddly (for a squid, hehe) and so great to sleep with! 5Great ToyI think the squid is great. I was surprised by the details included on a plush toy. I have been having way too much fun with it, so I think a child who loves squids would have a blast. I don't know how well it will hold up, but I have not been overly cautious with it and there is no damage. Warning: it may attack other stuffed animals and small pets.I've included photos to show what it really looks like and a size comparison. The bear is a 16 inch Build-A-Bear. I got Squiddie for my partner for winter holidays as he's kind of obsessed with squids. He was so excited to see Squiddie on Christmas Eve! This fluffie friend is bigger than I expected and his tentacles feel well made.The first thing the love-of-my-life did after unwrapping Squiddie was pull the tentacles apart to see if he had a beak, AND HE DOES! This squid has a beak like a real squid! This was major, as I didn't see anything about it in the description. Also, Squiddie has big beautiful eyes (likely not safe for small kids, but not sure) and gills that look like he's smiling :)Highly recommend this squid! 5Perfect For Our Aspiring Marine Biologist!Our 4.5 year old daughter is in a major giant squid phase right now thanks to a random book we checked out from the library. She has memorized so many facts about this amazing creature and her thirst for more knowledge has been fun to see. On a whim we ordered this stuffed animal for her and she was instantly smitten. She loved how accurate it was, from its funnel to that all-important beak (that was actually the first thing she checked for! She moved the tentacles aside and excitedly proclaimed that the beak was there!). She sleeps with it at night and has named him Arkitoofis , which is how she pronounces the giant squid s scientific name, architeuthis.The only negative we ve come across so far is that the little stitches that hold his mantle in place are easily plucked and broken by curious little hands - but it s an easy at-home fix. 5Perfect!This is the silkiest, softest plush toy we've ever felt. My 3 year old nephew is absolutely in love with Architeuthis, and squealed with delight when he saw this guy waiting for him. He named him Archie the Architeuthis, and carries him around with him. The size is perfect, and we were impressed that it included the fringe around the mantle, and even a beak! His eye are large and piercing, which makes it feel extra lifelike.
