    Great at first, but fell apart after one day.Update: After having this for only one day, I went to put it away in it's box and a corner came apart. Not worth the hassle to return it, so I'm going to have to wood glue it and maybe put in a finishing nail.Simple, fun game. It is also well-constructed, not cheesy, as was the complaint about several other games. It is a fun game to play, not complicated, but quite addictive! I've even found myself playing alone, just to see how low a score I can get. It is a great family game because all ages can play and it can be tough to find games that are inclusive and still engaging for all ages. 5Top Quality all the wayBox, levers, numbering are all very well made and durable. Family from grandparents to 5 yr. old children love playing this game. It is now one of the family favorites. We really like that the numbers go from 1-12. A nice feature is that the two dice fit nicely under the closed levers so they don't get lost. Even the heavy-duty cardboard packaging that the game came in is especially well made and is holding up great, still protecting the contents. I paid more for this particular game than some other Shut the Box games cost but this one is top quality all the way; even with all the use it is getting I still expect it to last for years because of the quality of materials used and the excellent construction. Another plus is that the children are markedly improving their math abilities in school! One minor downside...The explanation of the rules for the game that came with this were not too clear so I went on to Wikipedia and got better rules explanation and also lots of variations for the game. 5Fast and fun way to learn number factsShut the Box is what games should be; quick to learn and easy to play. The game consists of a box with 12 bars numbered 1-12 that can be in an up or down position. The game starts with all bars up. Players roll dice and press down the corresponding number or combination of numbers that add up to the roll of the dice. For example, if a 10 is rolled, the player can put the 10 down or a 6 and 4, 7 and 3, 2 and 8, or 9 and 1. Once a numbered bar is down, it is out of play. The object is to roll until you can't make the number. So if you roll a 9, but all you have left is a 4 and a 1, your turn is over. The object is to shut the box or get the lowest score possible.Once the students get familiar with their number facts, games go very quickly. When my students know their addition facts well, I have them use subtraction combinations also, making it easier to shut the box. This version goes up to 12; some versions I've seen only go up to 9. I like the bigger version, but it is a relatively large box, so you need to have the room to store it.This game is great for home and school. You'll be amazed at how fast students learn their addition facts and how eager they are to play the game, usually over and over, hoping to be the first to actually shut the box. 5The Perfect Game for PartiesWhen I got introduced to this game, I immediately wanted to buy it!
