Customer Reviews

Don't pass up this game!My children and sometimes my grandchildren meet every Thursday night at our house to eat and play cards. It is so nice to be together and we play Wizard all the time. There are always 4 -to 8 of us who play and of course the more that show up the more fun it is to play this card game and so easy to learn. That reminds me to order another couple of boxes as mine are wearing out. I highly recommend this card game. Of course we are all adults at this stage of life. 5TOP 3 FAMILY FAVORITES!This game has been a family favorite ever since we bought it! I introduced it my mother inlaw and now every time she comes to visit us, she requests that we play it - which we do for hours and hours! It's almost identical to the card game "Oh Hell" (which is played with a regular deck of cards) only it has Wizard cards and Jester Cards, which shake things up a bit; making it a lot more fun than the traditional "Oh Hell" game. The Wizards take EVERYTHING, while the Jesters take NOTHING. **You will only understand this if you've played card games with bidding and tricks. Every family should have this game :) 5The Natural Evolution of Traditional Card GamesAn excellent and relatively simple card game for a varied number of players. Works best for 2 6 players, though you can find ways to make it work for more, and most people have experience with very similar games (such as Hearts, Spades or Pitch, for example), so teaching is fairly easy. Bidding on how many "tricks" you'll take each round adds a thrilling element of competition and strategy, and there are rules variants for that process to make things even more interesting. The only minor downfalls are that a full game can take a while to play (although you can simply not play as many rounds if you like); and it requires a certain amount of focus, so this isn't a game people can drift in and out of. Nonetheless, I'd recommend to anyone, young or old, game novice or expert. 5Lots of fun, but make sure you receive "original" cards, not German Fantasy version.Really fun card game. The Wizard and Jester cards make it more strategic than Oh Hell, which you can play with a regular deck. I even bought the iPhone app so I could practice on my own.Warning: My first purchase was for the pictured cards in a "original Wizard card game" blue box. The second time I got the German "Fantasy" version of the cards, even though it was supposed to be the exact same set as the first time. 5who love to play board and card gamesBought this game for grandchildren, ages 9 and 11, who love to play board and card games. It was a winner! Some luck and lots of strategy required to win. (It's a bit similar to playing Bridge, which is also a bidding and strategy (adult) game.) The object of the game is not to win the most tricks, but to predict HOW MANY tricks you will win, and then win exactly the number you bid. Because of this, the game has much more strategy. Making a good bid involves understanding the game, so you may need to play a few times before you can really understand how to make a good bid. GREAT game. Would definitely recommend. Five stars for sure! Have a good game.(We also bought the 6 bidding wheels and they added a lot to the game.) 5Great card game...DONT PLAY WITH 3 PEOPLE!!Really this should be 4.5 stars. I really love the game, everyone I have introduced to the game loves it. The only downside I would say and it is completely avoidable is it should really say for 4-6 players...playing with 3 is a nightmare...it is unbelievably long (something like 2.5 hours if you are playing with anyone new) and gets to be a pain to hold all the cards (20) in your hand. Other than that it is a great game and it will be hitting the table this Christmas for sure. 5Simple but effective card game.I bought this as a filler game when I was having friends over for the weekend. Even though it was intended as a filler I had my friends asking to play it a few times throughout the weekend. Its a very simple game that anyone can pick up. It can be made with 2 normal playing card decks but its really nice having the set. It comes with all the cards you need with special styling for the Wizards and Jokers, scoring sheets, and rules. I would just watch a video to see how it plays but honestly I can't imagine someone hating this game. It is a very safe pick.It plays like any trump card game. The pacing of the game helps newer players learn the game very quickly. By the late rounds in the 1st game they should be completely competitive.I recommend mixing up how scoring works depending on your group. Maybe you make missing your bid a harsher punishment to encourage safer play or maybe you make winning tricks worth more to remove conservative play, or mix it up each round. My only cons for the game is it requires you to deal out hands that increase by 1 card each round until you are dealing out the entire deck. This is very tedious in the late stages of the game and honestly my group stopped around 10 rounds each time. You could very easily just put a hand size limit and play the rounds you would have played if you were giving out the entire deck. 5The Perfect GiftIf you are looking for a small gift to give to someone who plays board or card games, this is a nice addition. It involves guessing your "tricks" or number of wins correctly, and can create a fun atmosphere. Some people struggle to understand the concept and thus stay around 0 points which can be devastating. After a few games it is easy and you can make games as short as you would like if you were in a rush. 5Great Group/Party GameArrived as shown. If you're looking for a new card game, this one is a lot of fun. The rules are relatively quick to learn and easy to remember. Because the game is part luck, part strategy, everyone has a shot at winning. My favorite aspect of this game is the pace. Not that you're rushed like in some high-speed games, but the game is divided into hands. Yes, the score is cumulative, but each hand is a fresh chance to score some points. This means you can only have a loosing hand for so long before you get a fresh one! 5Almost same game as "Oh he!!"This IS a great card game, although be aware that it is almost the same game as one that we called "oh h*ll", which we played with a standard deck. (It's a game with trump, and first hand is 1 card each, second is 2 cards each, etc., and players have to bid exact numbers of hands they think they will get.) Main difference is that this has 8 additional cards: 4 jesters who are at the bottom of the rankings, and 4 wizards who are at the top; slight difference in rules. My kids, 9 and 11, who have never played a trump game before, were able to understand it relatively easily. One reason this is a great game is that it doesn't depend entirely on getting great cards and then playing them well, but you can still earn points with a "bad" hand if you can bid and play it correctly. Have fun! 5
