Customer Reviews

Great New Version!I've been playing Trivial Pursuit with my mother as a tradition for nearly 20 years. After playing the Millennium edition for 10 years, I decided we finally needed a new version because we had memorized all the questions. I was really happy with this purchase. The new rules are a fun new twist without breaking too far from the traditional Trivial Pursuit. I like that the question you get depends not only on what spot you are on the board (category), but also what you rolled on the die (difficulty). I expect my mother and I to be able to play for many more years without memorizing the questions because there is such a large variety. 5Great new concept for Trival PursuitGreat concept with three different levels of difficulty. Unfortunately, most likely as this was first time they tried it, some times the levels and questions didn't quite match up. Also, as some have stated, some facts were wrong, almost as if they went with popular opinion instead of the actual fact.Overall, a great twist and hours of fun. 3perfectGreat fun on a rainy night 5I can't believe this was a special editionSimply stated, this game was very poorly put together. There were several typos, questions were often worded poorly, and some of the "facts" were just plain WRONG. For example, there was a question referring to the atomic bomb dropped over Nagasaki. The card stated that the name of the bomb was "Fat Boy," when the correct answer should have been "Fat Man." I did like the idea of six levels of difficulty for each question, but the question writers for this game didn't exactly stick with this concept. One of the HIGHER level questions actually asked me "What d-word is used to describe the bouncing of a basketball?" Really?? I didn't know this game was meant for 2nd graders. So, overall, I was VERY disappointed with this game. It seems to me, seeing as how this is an anniversary edition, they could have hired people to fact check and spell check all the questions, rather than just throwing this thing together. 2Good for families but not for adultsThis is a great Trivial Pursuit for playing with your family of widely varying ages. It's pretty awful for a group of adults as even the "hardest" questions are too easy. The addition of pawns moving around the outside ring adds absolutely nothing to the game and is annoying. We ended up digging out our ancient TP less than halfway through playing. 2A step in the wrong direction for Trivial PursuitThe Trivial Pursuit genre has stepped backwards with this one... not only is the redesigned board completely lacking in the elegance of the earlier versions, but what they did to the questions caused more problems than they solved. While I sympathize with the need to have easier and harder questions, constantly passing the six packs of cards around leads to messes- and, because there are so few cards for each category of question, in just a few games, we find ourselves repeating the questions! Also, how they sorted the questions into easy, medium, and hard is a little bizzairre sometimes. There are quite a few cards where "hard" is much easier than "easy" questions.I bought this because I was sick of answering questions from the 70s (Idi Amin and Charles Lindberg's baby are the answers to half of the history questions), but I'm not sure it was worth it. The silly moving the token around the exterior ring, while it adds a new action to the game, doesn't seem to improve the gameplay. If I could trade this in on a few new boxes of the old-style question cards with one question from each category on each card, with a few hundred cards in each box like they always had, I'd jump at the chance. 2Just as hard as the othersI never seem to catch up to the trivial pursuit but they are still a TON of fun. This one has a little bit more current questions which was good as I m under 30 and the older trivial pursuits are very hard for me. But like all the rest still a great time with some friends or some family. So go grab some wine and some friends and start playing!!! 5Great, but too difficult for 12 year oldsThis is overall, a good version of Trivial Pursuit, but there are a few problems with it. The easy, medium, and hard questions aren't very consistant. While playing it with children all around the age of 12, they would get easy questions as simple as "what color is a basketball usually" to "What is the name of the ship on Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island?". I'd say either play with adults and older teens only or make sure you have some thick skinned 12 year olds. 4Doesn't hold a candle to the originalI really liked Trivial Pursuit - and was excited to find a modern update - but in short, the game kind of sucks. The quality of the board and accessories is much lower than the original, and the questions are really where the game falls flat... The questions seem much 'easier' than the original, and there are quite a few obvious mistakes, too. If the questions were updated versions of the original, I'd give then 4 stars, but with the poor quality questions, I can barely give it two. 2Hey, I enjoyed it!I bought this version of Trivial Pursuit based off of others reviews. I played it this past weekend and enjoyed it a lot. For me it was similar to other versions. It still had the original six categories: geography, entertainment, history, art & literature, science & nature, sport & leisure. But -THIS IS NEW - each category now has its own card, with six questions and varying difficulty levels. What you roll determines the level of difficulty of the question. Also they give you little pawns to play with and there is suppose to be some new way of playing with them. But we just used the original pieces and moved them around the board like we always do.I would recommend this game because I enjoyed the new questions. 5
