    it's a pretty red colorFor this being listed as a "toy" it's really lovely; it's a pretty red color. All the wooden pieces seem very sturdy and well-made. It had sort of a varnish-y smell to it when I first took it out of the box but that has gone away since it's been out. The little book of meditations that is included is a nice bonus. 5Great for the officeI like this product. It came in smelling strongly like paint, but it's been 24 hours and I can't find a trace of that smell. The sand comes packaged seperately and even comes with enough to refill the sand if it's been out for too long or got spilled, so that's nice. The product quality is high, and the meditation book that comes with it is nice to flip open before I begin my day at the office to have something to ponder on bigger than the job. I make a nice design that I feel good about, and get to work. It's a great addition to the office. 5SmallI really like the booklet of meditations. And it will fulfill your fancy if you have more rocks/pebbles and seashells. Anyway it's the meditation that counts which comes from within. I enjoy a burning candle and music as well. 4Just recently received my Zen Garden and very pleased with itJust recently received my Zen Garden and very pleased with it. Exceeded my expectations. Put it on my coffee table where it is sure to generate some conversation. I can see how this could be used to relieve tension and stress. I added the golf ball. I play golf whenever I get the chance and more often than not send my ball to the bunker. Maybe by adding my golf ball to my little ZBB - Zen Bunker Buddy - I can now become one with those nasty bunkers that I encounter on the course. Again, very happy with my purchase. Now, go in peace, Grasshopper. 5Even a five minute decompression moment of zen at work is priceless!bought this for a little zen table we made at work for my team to be able to take a few minutes when they need a mental break, knowing it would be more of a novelty and would wear off quickly, but everyone has been totally using it!!The Zen Garden is made with very pretty cherry colored wood, so its a lot nicer looking than some of the more toy looking ones I've seen for around the same price. It's nice that it came with three sturdy tools and rocks and a little zen booklet - Oh and two bags of zen sand! I would've given it 4 stars, but the tray doesn't sit flush on the table, its slightly off kilter - fixed it by adding a small almost used up book of post its underneath one corner. 4Nice little garden just don't throw itI got this for my wife to help her stay calm and as a tool for her to use to help control her rage.. It worked very well and she enjoyed it until I upset her due to a doughnut fiasco. I suggested she work on her zen garden rather then to let my nice doughnut upset her, At that point she thought the zen garden would better serve her by hurling it at my face. The pretty wood frame shattered on the wall to her dissapointment as I ducked the flying garden. Needless to say the bright white sand is forever in our bedroom and never really seems to go away. I hope you enjoy it. My wife apparently did not 4Nice Zen GardenI really like this zen garden.Pros: the sandbox is nicer than what I expected, the sand is more granular than regular sand, and the rocks all have little imperfections. Obviously they do...they are rocks...but I still like it, so it's a pro.Cons-ish: I do not have any personal problems with these items, but you should be aware that the rocks look common, and I do not understand what the straw tool is for, but the bristles fall out pretty easily. The straw tool is not welcome in my zen garden.Cons about this review: I do not know how to review rocks, but the zen garden has helped put me to peace with this negative trait. Or lack of trait. Or whatever. 5Definitely what I expectedI really like this little zen garden. The quality over-all is a 3/5 but I m still impressed. It s definitely just what I expected. It comes with 2 different rakes, a little brush rake, 2 bags of sand (MORE than enough), some rocks, and 2 little bird figurines. It also comes with a little book to read with inspirational quotes.The reason I rated this a 3 is (mostly cosmetic):-The sand is so fine and transferable that my tools are turning white (definitely can t use your hands)-The wooden box isn t completely sealed. I had to glue the seam so sand wouldn t come out the sides.-The rake has big globs of glue down by the spokes.-I ended up throwing away the broom rake because it just made a mess and was frayed on arrival.-I glued little pieces of felt to the bottom so the wooden legs wouldn t transfer or scratch my tabletop.With my adaptations, this little zen garden should definitely last a while! 3Eh - not as relaxing as I thought it would beThis item looks nice but is kind of messy for a desk top, de-stressing item. The powdered sand gets all over the place leaving a powdery dust on the wooden frame. Also - it is not as easy as it looks to move the sand around into neat designs. I think I will leave this for the "zen" masters to play with. 3Very happy with this purchaseI am a counselor for a mental health agency and I bought this for my office. Clients love to play with it when they come it for appointments. They adjust the stones and smooth out the sand, make designs and place the birds. It serves as something to do with their hands if they are nervous/anxious. Sometimes they will straighten up a messy Zen garden, clean up what another has created, line up all the rakes, it's interesting what people will do.As for the actual product, this was above and beyond my expectations. Well made box, lots of fine sand, several stones, rakes and birds to design your own Zen garden. Just lovely. I always tell people where I bought mine and encourage them to get their own. 5
