Got Me Back To The BenchAs a model builder with over half a century of building behind me, I bought this kit as a way to get back to building after being away from the bench for far too long. I wanted a kit that was simple and fun to build. Having built this particular Tiger I by Tamiya (they make several variants) many, many years ago, I knew it was just the ticket. This kit is all plastic, meaning there are no fidgety photo-etched parts and no aluminum barrel. It has rubber band tracks, not individual link tracks that can drive a person crazy. The fit was Tamiya perfect, as always with their kits and it went together the way I knew it would. The kit was finished in a few days and did exactly what I wanted it to do; got me back to building again. Since then, I've been busy completing several more kits. So, if you're a modeler in a slump, or a beginner looking for a kit that's a bit more of a challenge than a Snap-Tite, then this is the kit for you. I highly recommend it for it's simplicity and the pure joy of building. 5Very good.25 y/o, first time putting together a model. I was actually surprised at how easy it was to assemble. Some of the instructions could ve been more clear, and a couple of the pieces didn t fit together too well, but as long as you fit check before cementing, you ll be fine. Only took me about 10-12 hrs to complete. This will be the first of many, I can already tell. 5Great model. Wonderful detail.Having recently returned to scale modeling after many years, I was finding kits that I assembled as a kid. Many are from the original molds and often require "lots of re-engineering" to get the right fit. Was very impressed with the quality of this model. One would not guess that the molds are over 20 years old. This was a pure joy to assemble. If you're into the diorama thing, you will love this model. 5Great model of a classic tank!Prior to this tank, I assembled one of the Dragon Models "Smart Kits", which have close to 1000 pieces per tank model, so this classic kit was a snap to assemble and the finished product is fantastic. The pieces all fit perfectly and this is a makes for a great representation of one of the most famous/infamous tanks in history. 5Perfect for what it is.tl;dr version: If you have modest experience at building and you want a nice Tiger to build and enjoy, this kit is for you. However, if your AMS is flaring up, you may want to go with a Dragon.Abstract: In 1989, Tamiya released a new-tool, state of the art kit of a Late Tiger I. It was wonderful in every way. Then in 1997, they altered the molds to release an Early Tiger I. That is what this kit is. So yeah, the design is 20 years old now.I mentioned Advanced Modeling Syndrome and Dragons - if you're the type of modeler that needs every single detail to be perfect and you expect a box full of bells and whistles like aluminum barrels and lots of PE, then you may want a new Dragon kit.Yeah. In many ways, the Dragons are superior. So why did I give this one 5 stars? Because it's a nice intermediate kit. No fit issues. Parts go together nicely. Well-engineered. No shape issues. And no FLASH! That is a miracle considering the molds are 20 years old! Remember the old old tracks where you'd use your daddy's flat screwdriver over a flame to mely little tabs to hold the ends together? Not a problem any more - the plastic responds well to model cement so all you have to do is glue them now. No more buttchewings for carbonizing up Dad's screwdriver blades! And that's why I gave this kit 5 stars. It is fine for what it is. Buy it, build it, and have fun! 5The Mighty Tiger I. One of Tamiya's Best. This model, has got to be one of Tamiya's best, or possibly one of the best models that money can buy of the Tiger I from any manufacturer. Allows you to build multiple versions of the early Tiger I and includes several decal/marking options. This is one of those that you could easily purchase and build multiple times. Highly recommended. Happy Modelling. 5This kit was an absolute joy to buildThis kit was an absolute joy to build. Typical Tamiya, everything fit together perfectly. It's not as detailed as a Dragon kit but for the price you just can't beat it. The decals included give you several options and you can build several versions of this tank. Highly recommended for the novice and the expert. 5This is a great one from Tamiya. Just wish they went all the way. This is a great model from Tamiya. I just wish they'd gone all the way and added interior and engine details. It's hard to scratch build the engine, the other stuff, not so much, but it would be nice to get it already in the model. As for my order, Prime rocks with next day, I ordered it and like a fiend I'm waiting by my mailbox 'cause I gotta have it right now, where is it, why haven't I got it yet, whoa hoss drink some decaf! But I digress.Svesda of all companies does an interior so I'll review it soon too... Diorama! (Really a fun word to say. A lot. DIORAMA... DIIIIIIOOOOOORRRRRAAAAAMMMMAAAAA!) 4A ClassicThis Tiger I is a good one - a great kit to begin the transition from the simpler Tamiya kits to more advanced kits like Trumpeter (but not quite Dragon).Several options are available for this Tiger, ranging from early to late production parts (Mantlet, Drive Sprocket, Air Filters, track racks, etc.)Assembly was a breeze, as the parts fit together quite well and the sprues were clean. The plastic band tracks are also a welcome addition, supplanting the normal vinyls with more detail while not requiring assembly or a hot nail head. However like the vinyls, they don't have much in the way of seeming weighty; if that's. A concern, order some Fruimodel tracks.Much like other early kits, this one also suffers from a lack of interior, so it's best to display this as crewed or with the hatches shut. 4The look of them and the nostalgia one can get from this tank is amazing. These tanks are portrayed as impenetrable machines inThis was my first model kit. Always was fascinated by the German tiger 1. The look of them and the nostalgia one can get from this tank is amazing. These tanks are portrayed as impenetrable machines in their day. Very interesting stuff. Even for a beginner like myself this was not a very tough build. I didn't paint it because my main focus was just getting the model built. German grey looks adequate anyways so I didn't bother. I definitely reccomendations this kit over the Tamiya mid production. The rubber tracks of the early model are not as realistic as the mid but glueing each link of track together in the mid kit is such a pain. If you are interested in ww2 era German armor this kit is for you! 5
