Customer Reviews

So awesome! These things are so awesome! My 1 1/2 year old really just started getting into trains and he enjoys putting the tracks together but also gets frustrated when they pull apart so easy. I decided to try these and I'm really impressed! They work well on bridges and tunnels too, which was a nice surprise. They are also pretty strong, I tried picking the track up in a couple places and the track didn't fall apart at all! This is such a great alternative to gluing tracks down. I'm a preschool teacher so I know all the benefits that come from building with tracks (fine motor skills, problem solving skills, cognitive development, etc.) and I would hate to loose that. Since my little guy is still pretty young we can build the tracks together and use the Suretrack clips to keep them in place until my son wants to build a different track. Win win! 5Saved our bacon when dealing with up-and-down tracks that won't stay togetherThese made a huge difference in working with a number of tracks that had been unstable when joined together-- up and down ramps, Maxim Enterprise Over and Under Tunnel , a set we bought somewhere else with a big suspension bridge... invariably the tracks would come apart when the train went over them because the connections were unstable. With a set of these it was possible to join the unstable bits together and get a railway that wouldn't come apart when the train went over it. Until we got these, my son was frustrated playing with his trains; now all is right with the world. Totally worth it. I'd say consider buying two sets if you have more than a couple of up-and-down type sections in your train layout. 5pros and cons - cheaper solution availableIf the idea is hold two track pieces together, these clips should be longer. They slide on, and therefore sometimes slide beyond the joint section too easily. For a fraction of the cost, you can also use tiny rubber bands (girls half inch hair ties) wrapped around the male end of a track piece, to make the joints stay together better. These suretrack clips are better than the rubber bands, though, for ascending pieces. 2Awesome ProductI recently bought an Imaginarium train table and train set for my son for his 3rd birthday. It has an elevated part that doesn't stay together well at all and fell apart whenever he tried to use it. The real problem though was his 16-month-old brother, who would tear the entire set apart every time he came near it. Then both would be hitting each other with track pieces.I realized in short order we had no choice but to secure the track somehow, but I HATED the idea of making it permanent. I plan on adding some Thomas pieces in the near future, and didn't want the table/track to be ruined with nail holes or glue. When I went online looking for alternative do-it-yourself methods, I stumbled across the Suretrack Clips. At first I was hesitant to order them because:1) There was only one review of them on Amazon. Sure it was a glowing review, but it is difficult to judge a product based on one person's opinion.2) I had never seen them or heard of them before. If they're so great, shouldn't everyone be using them?3) I have off-brand track. The manufacturer lists several brands of track the clips are compatible with (including the ever-popular Brio and Thomas) but not mine.In the end, I ordered two boxes, and boy am I glad I did! They work great! It took me about 10 minutes to do our whole train set, and after that my 16-month old played with the set for nearly an hour without breaking apart a single piece (previous record was literally under two minutes). I am really amazed that something so simple and non-destructive to the set can work so well.I do have some advice though. Because the product is relatively inexpensive, shipping for one box can be as much as 70% of the price of the item itself. And if you're clipping the whole train set, you're likely to need more than one box anyway. So go ahead and save on shipping by figuring out how many boxes you'll need and ordering them all at once.Alternatively, you can just clip the elevated parts of your train set, because these are the pieces that fall apart the most. In this case, you can probably get away with one box. 5Worst part is the slight elevation off of train table ...Used on my Melissa & Doug train set for a 2 year old that kept getting frustrated with tracks coming apart. Works well. Only a few pieces didn't fit (roundhouse connector and gated bridge). Worst part is the slight elevation off of train table but that doesn't seem to effect play much. 4Works depending on what train set you haveThese work decently depending on what set you have., I have the imaginarium express train table so it didn't really work well for pieces that sat on top of supports because it added extra bulk beyond the track and the supports didn't allow for any beyond the actual track. 4Brilliant toyThese are really, really cool! When my son was 2.5 to 3, I used these to firm up the track layout on his train table, so he could play independently without getting frustrated by gapping tracks -- especially on the hills. (I admit, I really enjoyed that phase -- I got a big kick out of making cool track layouts with these things!) Now that my son is four, he's figured out how to use them himself, and he makes the coolest configurations over steps, up to short tabletops, etc. Sometimes he needs a tiny bit of help clicking them into place when attaching them to one of our bridges, even at almost five. But a lot of times he can do it all on his own. We've had no trouble with attaching these to various train accessories, too. These are such a wonderful addition to a wooden track set. They were very helpful in helping my son play with trains when he was young, and now they're spurring his interest in continuing to play and design with the tracks a few years later. Perfect toy! 5Worth the price for bridging and joining mixed-brand tracksThese work on all the different-branded wooden tracks we have collected, and are especially good for keeping elevated sections together. We bought these partially based on the 2007 review by "Kindle Customer" and that reviewer is exactly right on all counts, even years later. They make it easier to keep the looser-fitting tracks together and support the suspended ones when normal supports get knocked over. We'll probably buy some more soon, as our little engineer is now wanting to migrate from the train table and bridge across chairs, sofa, tables and anything he can reach. (MUCH preferable to any kind of permanent glue or attachment - nailing down tracks would kill the interest for good, I think.) They are very firm to put on and remove, so our 2-year-old can't manage them by himself yet, but he's working on it. 5My toddler likes to lean across his train table when ...My toddler likes to lean across his train table when pushing his trains, sometimes knocking over elevated track pieces. He also pushes his trains really hard, not yet understanding how much pressure he's applying. These clips are a lifesaver. He was throwing lots of tantrums over his track coming apart and I was getting really tired if fixing it 100 times a day. Now it doesn't matter how rough or careless he is, the whole track stays together even if a support beam gets knocked out of place. 5So great. Helps with raised tracks a tonSo great. Helps with raised tracks a ton. Makes it harder for my son to dismantle table; he lifts up big strips of tracks instead. 5
