Customer Reviews

Very very disappointingThis kit is garbage and seriously disappointed my child. I will be getting a full refund. Smith so Ian should be embarrassed about putting their name on this.Followed instructions step by step. Very disappointing experiment..Amazon should not allow this to be sold. 1Poor QualityThis one for us was a total, total dud. We bought this for our daughter, who has a love of science, we meticulously followed the directions, and...we could not get the crystals to grow. Not even a little bit. She was bitterly disappointed with this one, and as a parent, I thought it pretty much stank as well. 1Save your money.Does NOT work. It wasn't just this set either. 3 of us moms bought these for our children around the same time. All of them were a huge fail. 1It does work, just be patient. My husband did this experiment as a child and we wanted to try it with our own kids. They enjoyed doing it and anxiously watch the crystals grow. As you can see, the yellow one produced many crystals on the rock. Tip: Leave the rocks in the mixture longer to get more crystals, but they will never look like the ones on the box. 3Good in theory but...The gems did not get NEARLY as big as the picture. Did we do something wrong? Disappointing. 3Nicely done. The crystals grew very nicely but not very many grew on the rocks. They grew mostly in the container beside the rocks. They look great though. In fact I have them mounted on my bookcase. I just wish I had known how they would grow so I could have left the rocks out entirely and let them grow on their own. 4Some problems, but the kids really enjoyed it.The bad:The instructions are terrible. They're just awful. The crystals look nothing like the box.The good:The results were fast! We did it right before bed time, ans by the time the kids woke up there were a couple of 1/2" crystalsThe kids (7 & 9) really, really enjoyed the kit. They'd check on it a few times a day with their flashlights and magnifying glassThe crystals are impressive and each color did different things. How we did it:Put one Rock in each containerGet three disposable coffee cups with three plastic knives for stirrers.Put 2/3 yellow in one cup, put 2/3 blue in one cup, put the remaining yellow and blue in the third.Boil water (we used an electric kettle)Pour needed amount of water (from instructions) in each cup and stir until dissolvedLet sit for prescribed time (I think 5 minutes)Poor one cup over each rock.Add "seed crystals" from empty packets. 4Just OkThis was a little expensive. Did crate crystals, but not like pictures on box. 3Pretty cool project with the kids thoIt's neat to do. The crystals aren't as clear as the picture makes out, and A LOT smaller than what we thought it would be. Pretty cool project with the kids tho. 4Cool concept but difficult to carry outWe were excited to try this (I helped my 5 y/o), but actually doing it was not as great. We've tried the directions "to the t" but ours didn't look anything like the ones on the package. Were still cool and a way to learn but maybe you need to be a pro? 3
