Customer Reviews

very thinthe cards are made out of a product just a little thicker than paper. cant be shuffeled. too thin. 1too cheaphasbro has made these cards too thin. Unlike the old Rook cards they're thin enough that one shuffle and you've bent every card. The cards are little more than paper. I've always liked the game of Rook, and my family has a myriad of other games we've always played with Rook cards, but these aren't worth the money--buy the 57 plastic cards instead. They're more durable. 1Almost as good as previous Rook decksWe use 3 Rook decks to play a different version of Bridge. Our old cards were in terrible shape, and we ordered these ones. They were pretty much what we expected. However, I gave these cards only 4 stars due to the thickness of the cards. They are pretty thin...and sometimes, depending on the light, they can be see-through. But not enough for us not to use them. I would still suggest you purchase these Rook cards. 4The "baptised" version of the card game of "spades."My second son, who is a mainstream Evangelical had a good laugh (I laughed along with him) over the idea that growing up in the conservative church subculture I was raised in our family would never think of playing "spades" with an "evil" standard deck of cards with which one could play poker (no doubt nefariously pulling an "ace" out of the sleeve of your coat in a "saloon" or casino).. Playing "Rook" was entirely ok. But Rook is essentially the game of spades with one or two minor differences . . . very minor. Still, the differences are interesting and you will enjoy playing Rook (should you decide to) as I enjoyed it over many, many hours of play in the church affiliated college I attended. And I still had an 3.87 GPA. So I guess cards are not necessarily a tool of the devil . . . that is, if you are careful to only play "Rook." 5Great card game with many optionsWe have loved this game for over 50 years -- our own verion of four players with the 2, 3 and four cards removed from every suit and 1's having the most power and 15 points, then the 10's and 5's having their own values. A widow with 5 cards is taken by the highest bid. The one who takes the widow sets the trump suit and the Rook card has 20 points but is the least powerful trump. We never have family gatherings without playing this game! 5Smaller than I thought , great cardsGreat price got it for Black Friday I got two sets They are just smaller cards than I expected my parents have a set that are much bigger but I m still happy with it. 4Good Quality Cards - Plus the Best Rook Rules to Play by.I love playing Rook and this is a solidly made deck. If you don't may I suggest playing Rook at 10.5 and call a partner (4 handed). Also if partner goes up they only go up half of what the bid is and if they go down they only go down half...encourages people to take to bid and not just go for a ride. 180 point game, closed kitty and last hand gets the discarded kitty. 5Missing the red 14Ordered 2 packs. 1 pack is missing the red 14. Rook players know you cannot play the game with 1 csrd missing. We had opened the box and dealr the first hand before we realized it, so very disappointing. One pack that I gave Mom was perfect. Buyer beware. 1It was nice that we could still order it and learn to ...We played this game with my husband's family when we were first married but had long forgotten the rules. It was nice that we could still order it and learn to play all over again while enjoying the fond memories. Cards are durable but not thick. And we have young kids too and they don't bend too easily but definitely keep them away from toddlers. :) 5Great game!We play pounce with these. Known by a bunch of other names. For that game you need lots of decks. I purchased several of these. Because these are all the same card backs, I m also including a different colored sharpie in their Christmas stocking for each receiver to personalize their card backs. 5
