Customer Reviews

Great prop for Bladerunner costumeGreat prop for Bladerunner costume! I bought two of these so I could mod them to make a more proper looking blaster (saw that others had done this successfully). I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and the light effects. I ended up just covering the rotating bullets and giving the toy a new coat of paint. I didn't even need the second pistol. For $11 this is well worth it. 5I feel like a kid could break this thing in about 2 ...I bought this for a cosplay piece. I had no intentions of using it as is. It is cheap. Let's be clear on that. I feel like a kid could break this thing in about 2 seconds. But, I didn't buy it for that. I looks very similar to the Blade Runner pistol, and with some modifications, that is what I will be using it for. For those purposes, it is a good purchase. Affordable, and if I mess it up, I'm not out a bunch of money. Plus, this one is shipped by Amazon, so I didn't have to buy it overseas. 4Broken -- Doesn't work. Arrived broken. Not much else to say really... It's defective. My son was disappointed. The toy looked neat though, but just doesn't spin the chamber or move back and forth and do the the it's supposed to do. :/ Bummer. 2Decent knock off of the Blade Runner gunLike a few other customers here, I bought this because of its similarity to the pistol used in the Blade Runner movie. Since prop-quality replicas of the Blade Runner gun can cost anywhere between $150-$1500, this is a nice alternative for anyone with even basic modeling skills. It can be easily disassembled, "made in china" and slide emblems removed through sanding, and re-painted to look more like the movie gun. Someone on ebay was actually selling one of these custom painted versions, and it looks pretty serviceable for cosplay or display. Only the lack of a double trigger and the cylinder of bullets distinguish it from the movie prop. It's molded plastic like any other cheap toy gun, so be gentle with it or I'm sure it will break without much force. I'm attaching some pics of the one I painted up, which improves upon the stock gun considerably. So, if you or someone you know is willing to put in the work, this knock-off can make a nice gift for a Blade Runner fan. Also, I noticed a number of customers complaining in their reviews that they could not get the battery door open. There is actually a small screw on the side that holds it closed. You have to unscrew that first before you can open the door. It seems unnecessary since the door stays closed without it, but it's there all the same.Cheers! 3The gun itself seems pretty solid--plastic is pretty durableThis review is for this seller. Buy this gun from a different seller. The gun itself seems pretty solid--plastic is pretty durable, motor is intact, feels good in your hand. Upon opening the battery case, however, I found that there were no metal components at the bottom of the handle to complete a circuit! So no matter how good the batteries were.... pretty pathetic. Again, buy this from someone else. 1Lights, sounds, and movement!Great gun for kid as it has really loud sound, lights up and bullets rotate around... Toddler loves it.. My only complaint would be the battery door being on the handle and does not screw shut.. it is just one of those pop open doors which tends to pop open if dropped and batteries come out... easy fix with some black electric tape lol, but seems like most toys have a screw on the battery doors these days to keep kids out and batteries in... But overall my son loves it and it was priced accurately... 4 a Copia/Pastia of my other review of the same gun~ Greetings~ I bought this as an intended project, which inspired me to create a modification of it, turning it into a more - "identifiable" - version of the famous Blaster from Blade Runner.~ So, being a fan of the 1982 film, this was a - "must do" - project First THE PRODUCT:~ This Blaster came in quickly within several days from placing the order and is as seen in the provided images in the advert.- I did order 2 of them, one for the modification and other for spare parts if needed. (and I am glad I did)~ I did notice that there's some differences between (each) blaster.~ I received this one has the battery door/opening on the grips, which would have made it more work to - modify - because it would have involved allot of detail work to refinished it.- so I used the other one as the main project modelle.~ The items itself is a cheap simple plastic toy variety, very lightweight, and is extremely loud.~ The product does have - "action modus" - which the cylinder portion rotates and the rest lights up when the trigger is pulled.~ simple and basic toy to keep youngsters busy for a awhile.~ I actually found myself playing with this, as I was modifying the other, and its become (kinda) like a fidget toy (of sorts) as I was thinking of the next steps to modifying my Blaster version. MODIFICATION:~ Before modifying the Blaster, I did a little research about modifying - "toy blasters" - to get the basic steps to get started.~ I found a great reference on YouTube, - so, I used that particular version of the tutorial (just type in - "Plastic Han Solo DL-44 Blaster Project" - by HT) < - - - initials of the channels creator and you'll be on your way! ~ I recommend using his technique on modifications used for toy Blasters.~ I then did research of the film version of the Blaster itself, to use as visual guides for it, for added details, and including re-watching the film itself, to get into the project mindset..~ There are hundreds of photos, reference materials, and threads related to the different versions of the Blaster, that it was very easy to - "pick and choose" - which version would be the BEST (imo) to use as a visual guide and to be inspired by.~ After choosing the version I wanted to emulate and after several days of slow progress, this is what I have to show for my hard work on my modification, and I am not finished, as I still have a some more - "greeblies" - to add to it before I consider it a completed work.~ Nevertheless (so-far) I am pleased with the look that I have achieved thus far.~ So, if you have plans to modify a Toy Blaster for your Blade Runner/Rick Deckard cosplay purposes (or) just want to save $1000 of dollars on buying the - "WorldCon version" - or any other expensive version of this famous blaster (I mean - after all - we're not like Adam Savage and his Blaster Collective), then this is the project for you! - especially since the new film will be out this coming Oct 06.~ If you decide to do this modification, take your time, take it slow, follow the recommended methods and you'll be rewarded for all your efforts.~ I DO recommend this product for it's intended purposes for cosplay, modification, for collective purposes and as an alternative for owning a Blaster prop from Blade Runner (granted) you will have to modify it to achieve the satisfying outcome desired but the hard work is well worth it. 5Saved me $300This gun feels fairly cheaply made. The lights and effects (the slide slowly moves back and forth) are lame. But, really, the reason you are buying this is because it somewhat looks like the Blade Runner blaster. Of all of these chinese plastic guns it is probably the closest (obviously the bullet ring is wrong, there shouldn't be a hammer, etc). It isn't a high quality product and if dropped from any height it will probably break. Normally, I'd give something like this two stars. I'm giving it an extra star for a more philosophical reason. If you want your own blade runner blaster you can do one of two things: buy a $10 plastic toy gun like this (there are two other models that also somewhat look like the blaster, just in different ways) or you can buy a $300-1500 prop model. Those things are beautiful: two triggers, working red led lights, amber resin handles, etc. Do a google search - some of these things are extremely impressive.I don't have $300 to "an older used car" to buy a prop pistol. I've always wanted a Blade Runner blaster. After spending $11 on this I realized: what the heck would I do with a Blade Runner blaster? Run around my house making laser sounds? Mount it somewhere so visiting friends can mock me? Put it in my office and be fired for bringing a weapon to work? Buying this not-at-all-close gun convinced me to give up the dream of buying a prop model. If I can't use my imagination on this $11 gun (it and a trenchcoat don't make me Deckard, after all), how would spending 10 times as much do the trick? 3Great for cosplay! The battery compartment was not "stuck" as many reviews suggested. There is a screw holding the compartment shut. The diagram is easy enough to read. Both of these work very well. I'm quite pleased. They will be re-painted for a Deadpool cosplay. 5Great toy gun.My 6 year old son loves this toy gun when he dresses up to play cops and robbers. His friends get jealous because his gun lights up and makes shooting sounds. I keep a pack of batteries in stock at all time because he drains them pretty quickly. I have recommended this gun to other parents because the sound level is tolerable. We have purchased some in the past that are just way too loud and must be used only outdoors. 4
