Best LED poi availableI love these poi - I bring them everywhere. The LEDs are bright and vivid, to the point that when the power goes out, they're the first thing I reach for for lighting. They come preprogrammed with a wide selection of modes, including a fading rainbow pattern, a flame emulation, and even an american flag pattern. They've survived being tossed into stuffed backpacks, being sat on, and even being spun in pouring rain. The battery lasts for a very long time, and they stay charged when not in use for a long time as well - I've left them unused for months and they still have full battery when I use them again.My only criticisms:1) They are hefty. My fingers can get tired after spinning them for a while, and the cord can also leave blisters if not gripped correctly. Many of my friends with podpoi have NOT had this issue, so YMMV.2) It can be difficult to plug them in when charging. You have to maneuver the cable through the openings on the side, and rotate the electronics until you can access the USB port. The very long battery life helps alleviate this problem.3) The clip that holds the strap at a certain length slips over time. Over 15 minutes of spinning, the strap can slip from the shortest setting to the longest. I've seem some people solve this issue by tying a knot over the clip.My overall opinion is that these are the best LED poi on the market right now. I recommend them to friends frequently, and have bought a pair as a gift for my girlfriend. 5THANK YOU FLOWTOYS!!these PodPoi are the coolest, incredibly well built and designed. The pictures here can't show the colors and different pattern and effects they're capable of doing, and videos don't do em justice either, seeing these beautiful colors glide thru the air in person is what makes these poi magical! 5Great LED Poi!I had 2 other sets of LED poi before these and there's just no comparison!The lights last all night on a full charge.It was a little difficult plugging them in the first few times, but once you get the opening lined up right with the charge port and get used to how to plug it in, they are really no problem at all.They are a really good weight to spin with.The pattern choices are awesome!They are soft enough to not hurt you when you hit yourself. They make a funny fluttery sound when you graze yourself and they start rotating quickly.I've had them for a year now and the only thing that isn't still good as new is the handles, they are starting to fray.I used them a few times on the playa this year and they are none the worse for wear.Home of Poi is a great company and they really stand behind their products. After these I also bought fire and sock poi from them. 5I love these poiI watched someone use a set of these and decided I wanted to learn how to poi. It hasn't been that long but it feels like a long road, this does not come overnight so don't expect it to. Use youtube as a resource and learn the basic moves, then go from there. Eventually you will start to develop your own "flow" and feel how this is supposed to go, and it's an awesome feeling to be in the groove. Then you want more and keep pushing yourself to learn the next move. I'm not your average juggling type (is that a thing?) or dancer, but I can certainly do this...but it came only after hitting myself and everything in the house many, many times.As far as the poi themselves, these are top quality and have amazing effects with the different settings. These are priced well for how much enjoyment they will provide you. They also come in a bag with excellent instructions. 5Sparkly trails!Very fun and cool toy. There's no way to show the way the different color/light patterns look when the poi are in motion, but they all have different effects. Some look like flickering flames, others like candy-colored strobe lights, others like trails of sparkles. I haven't even played with all the modes yet.One thing: I wouldn't recommend these to someone who has never tried spinning before. It takes some practice and at least decent arm strength (not bodybuilder level, but more than someone who spends all day at a computer). If you're flailing around, seeing your mistakes highlighted in bright, beautiful colors can be a little discouraging. I practiced with some cheap sock poi first to see if I had the knack for it. 5Best Poi on the market near this price pointBest Poi on the market near this price point. Great adaptable settings and adjustable length of string. the spinning ball bearings allow for a myriad of tricks as well. these charge through micro USB so that is very convenient also! they are soft silicone and therefore do not hurt so much when you hit yourself with them, but they allow quite a lot of light out. the candle light setting is nice for hanging in a tent. additionally, these are motion adaptive and therefore do not strobe in your face when you have paused a spin, but they will begin strobing once more as soon as you start. these are very intuitive and would recommend them to any spinner! 5Only use if you know what you're doingThe good: They have really awesome colors and patterns. I've gotten a ton of compliments on them and people seem to be mesmerized. If they hit you it doesn't hurt that bad. And they're not too heavy, not too light. The USB charging is huge.The bad: they break pretty easily. I was practicing a move (most commonly known as butterfly) when they caught together, and one of the pods actually broke off and flew ten feet away. The little plastic bit that holds the top of the poi together disappeared and I haven't found it since (I was in my backyard at night). And I wasn't even swinging them that hard, in fact I was doing it pretty slow.I recommend using sock poi if you're just practicing - only use the guys if you are doing moves you know well. They can't take too many screwups. And it's a lot of money to drop on some poi. 3update. these have been funAre these supost to flicker on Solid colors... Do these have a Flickr to them for other people when they're spun... Like it might have a short or something? Mine do it bothers my eyes. I'm just curious if this is normal and if this is just how they are.Update: i still dont like the flicker as my eyes are sensitive to it. but all in all, these are what i wanted. I am totally appreciating how soft they are when i clock myself as it happens often. I have a long way to go to be any good but they have been supper fun for myself and my son to play with. The charge last a long time and we have used them as lanterns when needed in the dark. They are a little pricey and would hate to ever have to replace them but would miss them if they were snagged or broke cuz we do play with them alot. 4Oh poi oh poi!I once fixed a different and cheaper brand of poi for a girl at our music camp, the experience of which made me appreciate these more. Extremely well made and good attention to all the little considerations like how it feels on your fingers to how it takes damage if you should be... unlucky. Secondary bonus, if like me you don't end up using them as much as you thought, they make lovely hanging decorative lights. Obviously the color combos on these are mad bountiful. And, they charge with the same usb ultra-common hookup as most android phones circa 2015. 5High-end Spinning GearPodpoi, manufactured and sold by Flowtoys, are among the best options for highly varied color and color pattern poi spinning for a reasonable price. The price tag may seem like a lot to swallow at first, but almost every other alternative I've seen or considered simply does not have comparable lasting value.While the manufacturer's "infinitely adjustable" claim might be a slight exaggeration, I would expect to pay more if this device could be programmed directly by the user (i.e. some sort of computer interface). As it is, it has infinitely more lasting appeal than even other offerings by Flowtoys, such as Crystal Poi. Crystal Poi has its merits, but being able to change the color scheme without forking out more cash is not one of them.These are are charged via USB cables, so there is no extra cost for batteries either. They charge very quickly, and a fully-charged battery will last for hours. They are very sturdy, and my personal set has endured many high-speed collisions and is still going strong.The only part which will likely need replacing at some point are the leashes, which only constitute about ten dollars of the total price (less if you only replace the nylon cord).I spend quite a lot of time spinning, and I don't expect these will continue to be my only set of LED poi, but I do expect to keep using these regardless of whatever other purchases I may make down the road. 5
