Customer Reviews

Awesomely Detailed FigureExcellent product; I love the artistic details this is made with. It looks like what the Tyrannosaurus Rex may have actually looked like when it lived. This item is very heavy in weight, likely made of solid material construction. It stands up very good for display purpose, which is what I purchased it for. Highly recommended for any dinosaur collector. Not necessarily for very young children as the claws and tail have rather sharp points on them and could cause injury if played with improperly. 5A beautiful t-rexI LOVE this t-rex. It is more detailed than my Schleich t-rex - more skin texture, more thought to the underlying musculature. (Mine came with a bunch of small scuffs to the paint that showed pale plastic beneath, but a few moments with a permanent marker fixed that right up.) The drab color scheme isn't its best point; I might customize it a little at some point. 5High quality, high detail, very durable and beautifully painted.I collected model figures in my teenage years and these are definatley collector quality models that even adult dinosaur enthusiast could set up and enjoy. Highly detailed paint and incredibly durable. I've been watching my 3 year old nephew bang them around all day long. I wouldn't recommend buying these if you plan on letting your kids play with them outside as they are very beautifully painted and may get damaged over time. Excellent product for the price. Fast Shipping. I included a picture of the two Papo T-Rex dinosaurs that I have. There is a brownish colored one and a green colored one. 5Amazing.This thing is beautiful. The details are insane and the build quality is phenomenal for a mass-produced toy. They're definitely made to be put on display and wouldn't look out of place among much more expensive pieces.Check out the picture I took of this guy with the mini T-rex (also from PAPO)Well worth more than the price, GET IT. 5Not so extinctI grew up watching Jurassic park in theaters, I can honestly say this is both for kids and adults. For kids keep in mind the jaw feels kinda weak, but other than that, it's made of hardish rubber. Very detailed, I put it as a collectors piece next to my bed. It's very bad ass and it looks even better than some of the toys Jurassic Park actually sells which is sad really. I say buy, worth the 30 dollars. It looks majestic with its mouth open or closed. This is a must for all dinosaur loving individuals like myself, who's love for dinosaurs still remains, as loyal as ever. 5Great Model Dinosaurs (Not for Rough Play)I've bought the entire Papo T. rex family: the green walking rex, a more upright brown rex and two baby rexes: one green and one brown. Some paleontologists have speculated that females might have been larger than males, so I named the larger brown rex "Sue" after the famous fossil and the slightly smaller green rex "Fang" because he has a bottom tooth that sticks out. This tooth (had he been a full-sized, living dinosaur) would have created a space between his teeth and a "slot" in his premaxilla similar to the fourth tooth slot found on the jaws of crocodiles. "Fang" has a space between his teeth and a slot in his upper jaw for his crooked bottom tooth. Now that's a toy with personality! All of the models are fairly accurate and very detailed with good paint jobs, which is pretty amazing considering they are mass-produced.I have only a few minor complaints / suggestions:1) The green "running" T. rex looks like he's walking, not running. Big whoop. You can decide for yourself by looking at the picture.2) I am actually surprised at how well my walking T. rex balances. Maybe I just got a good one or balance is less of an issue for me. Still, a little one might get frustrated by how easily the walking dino topples.3) The paint job on Papo dinos seems to scratch more easily than the paint job on Schleich dinos. (Schleich comes in second behind Papo when it comes to detail and believable paint jobs.) I didn't notice this right away because my dinos sit on a shelf and serve as models for my paleo art. My five-year-old cousin, on the other hand, is pretty rough on her dinos. I gave her a brown Papo T. rex on a Friday and by the end of the weekend she had managed to scuff him up so the underlying pinkish-brown color showed through on his eyebrows, nose and other vulnerable body parts.4) T. rex probably had at least a few feathers for display purposes. This would not detract from their fearsomeness. It's about time toys started reflecting what we know about dinosaurs.5) Almost every single toy gets the hand orientation wrong. The arms of most theropod dinosaurs would have functioned similarly to wings. The elbows and wrists had hinge joints that were more or less parallel to one other. With hands held out straight in front, the palms would have faced one another.6) The green T. rex totally needs a small prey item to dangle from his mouth. When the Papo T. rex family is together, the babies are looking up, begging for food. The upright T. rex guards the babies while the green T. rex brings food. Therefore, the green rex *needs* a detailed, contemporaneous prey item that fits perfectly in his teeth! ;) Papo, please make one for him.7) The jaw on the walking T. rex is floppier than the jaws on the other T. rexes. It only has two distinct positions: all the way open and completely shut. The jaw is held shut by the crooked bottom fang / upper jaw slot, so it flops open quite easily. The mouths on the other T. rexes are much more posable.8) Baby T. rexes probably had a lighter build and a layer of fluffy down.Other than that, these toys are great, both for collectors and for somewhat careful children whose dinosaur battles don't get too rough. 5and has a great weight to itMost realistic looking T-rex figure in existence. Museum quality. stands around 6 inches tall but is big! and has a great weight to it. High quality in every way. A great addition to anyone's home bookshelf or whatever. Too nice to be given to young children as i don't know how well it will hold up to constant play but it is very durable. Its the paint that could potentially come off, although i cant say for certain as my four year old son only plays with his cheaper trex toys. this one is for my collection.lol 5Beautiful T-RexThe color, pose, and just the overall detail on this T-Rex is magnificent! There is without a doubt that the sculpt and look of this T-Rex is heavily inspired by the T-Rex's design in the Jurassic Park movies. I love it. This is both a great collectors item and toy for children. Although, I see It more as a display and collectors item than as a child's toy.Outstanding work Papo! You are definitely my favorite dinosaur figure making company! So much work and detail is put into them and they don't feel cheap at all! This T-Rex has got some weight to it!Highly recommend to anyone who loves dinosaurs. You will not be disappointed! 5Best T-Rex I've ever gotten.Great dinosaur figure. More detailed then the pictures depict. Mine is precisely 6 5/8 inches to the back of his head. 6.5 inches to the eye level.Weighs 14.65 ounces. Was going to give to one of my great nephews but decided to keep it myself. Will look for something less expensive. :)3 new pictures comparing size difference between 3 other dinosaurs. 5The Rex is Always RightHey you "Dino-purists". So what, so he is sitting on his tail? I've seen bears who walk around on their hind legs all the time, because of an injury or birth defect. Maybe this rex has some issues we can't see? We could use our imaginations to fill in the blanks as to his plight. (a main theme of toys to begin with). Also, we take a best guess as far as anything about this animal is concerned. For instance, we also do not know the pupil shape or color, or how the skin was "fit" on the beast (some samples of skin prints have been found, yes). Many other aspects to this creature are speculative and can not be asserted as 100% correct. We simply were not here to see one, and no polaroids exist of them. That being said, I LOVE MY SITTING T-REX, he is as accurate as my imagination dictates he needs to be. 5
