Customer Reviews

Reinforce the very best valuesI gifted three of these to my three grandchildren, and they reinforced the best behaviors: spend (some on yourself), share (with others), and save (an important life lesson.) These are great for single-digit aged children or grandchildren. Help them the first few times they use them, and they will earn such important ethics. 5It is a great idea to visually demonstrate savingI wish the 3 separate containers were held together by something other than the rubberband. I wish it sat inside of something to hold it together. It is a great idea to visually demonstrate saving, spending, and sharing with your children. My daughter is 4 now, and she has not quite grasped the concept yet. I also wish that the names of "save, spend, and share" were writtten on the top of each section of the bank. 4Love the sections, sturdy tins, hate the rubberbandI love the three sections! The Spend/Save/Share method is what we have settled on for teaching our kids about managing money. I also like that each section is a standalone box. The metal tins are pretty sturdy, and the lids stay on reasonably well. I don't like the rubberband that is supposed to keep the sections together though. It is tight, which is good, but difficult for my kids to put on by themselves, and even when it is on, hard to adjust the three tins so that the set sits flat. Plus the kids are always taking it off so they can count their money or line the boxes up or what have you. I think I would have preferred the outer cardboard box to be made a little more sturdy so that it could be used for the storage. 4Great starter bank for toddlersThis item was perfect for my 2.5 year old. He loves hearing the coins bang around when he puts them in every week. He knows his colors, so we put equal amounts into each of the three canisters. As he gets older, we'll talk through why we do that. 5Serves its purpose and teaches good lessonsMy son is 7, and we started paying him a small salary for various jobs/chores he does around the house ranging from helping wash the car to folding laundry. It amounts to about $7 a week. We wanted to find a good way for him to learn the difference in spending, giving, and saving, and the Moonjar seemed like a good solution. The jar itself is metal with plastic lids, all held together with a rubber band. It's not the greatest construction out there, but it serves its purpose. We especially liked the small registry that comes with it, so he can keep track of what's going in and out of his jar. It gives him the ability to practice his math as well has developing good record keeping skills as well as building helpful saving/charitable habits for later in life.We keep it up on top of our hutch because I do not believe it would last long in the hands of our 1st grader, and we just bring it down on "pay" day or when he wants to get some spending money. I can envision it getting broken, or having the lids/separated sections getting lost.Overall, I think this is a great idea, but I do wish it was better constructed. 4Why didn't I think of this?!The material is a little flimsier than I imagined (the tin part easy bends) but the concept cannot be beaten. The boxes are individual and are held together by a yellow band (similar to the material Awareness bracelets are made from). You can arrange them like the picture shows or get creative and rearrange them in other ways. My kids are really enjoying learning about how to manage their money. The record book it comes with also helps to keep my son honest about how much he really took from his little sister's bank when she "purchases" an item from him. 5Tool for teachingThese were Christmas gifts for my kids and I'm so glad I decided to get them. They are such a great way to teach kids how to spend their money- they have a slot for Spending, saving and giving and this has been a useful tool in teaching hem how to be responsible with their money. I would definitely recommend the Moonjar! 5Fun colors, fun shape and Educational:)Super cute and educational. The passbook got my son into deeper conversations about banks , deposits and withdrawals! He read the book pictured for more information and is super excited. I bought this book mainly to teach him about charity this Ramadan. During this holy month , Muslims give charity almost everyday. Thanks for a good quality, affordable money jar that isn t cheaply made. 5TOO SMALL ! better for coins only-gave 1 star for concept, other companies do the same, and it's great. Gave bank to a 5 year old, who loved the concept, and eagerly puts most of the dollar bills he gets in the 'share' bank. BUT: you have to fold up a paper bill very tightly to get thru the slot, ok...then after only a few bills are in, they kind of stand up on top of each other, and you can't get anymore in thru slot. So you open it up, try laying all the folded bills down flatter to make room. Then we fastened groups of bills with paper clips to hold them tight to make room for more...it comfortably holds maybe 5 bills, before you need to keep fussing with it. Just not a bank a kid can readily add paper bills to over time. Best for coins only, as are most banks I have seen. Searched way too much, and still trying to find something suitable for young kids that is better suited to paper money. it shouldn't be this hard. I wanted something nice looking, or I'd just use random homemade containers like my own kids did, years ago. Don't kids get paper $ anymore? 1Son loves his bank, highly recommendedWe got this bank for our four-year-old son to teach him about money when he receives his weekly allowance. He gets $1 in quarters for feeding the dog, helping put away laundry and a couple additional small chores; and he puts a quarter in each section, then he chooses where the fourth quarter goes. He looks forward to allowance day every week, and he runs to his bank with his quarters. Highly recommend for parents of 4 to 6-year-olds 5
