Customer Reviews

Excellent way to learn and just play Magic the Gathering. So much fun!Bought these at the suggestion of other MTG players here on Amazon to play with my teen kids and they absolutely loved it. I have not played MTG in years since back in college and these decks are great to play straight out of the box. The rules/turn sheet and deck rules / descriptions where easy for them to use and explained what we needed to understand for them to get into the game right away. If you want to begin playing Magic this is an excellent place to start. I got 3 duel deck boxes and we have mixed them playing each other and they are so much fun and well balanced. Each pack comes with the instructions a box for each deck and a 20 sided die for life. 5Best starter I could findAt the moment this looks to be the best starter set I could find, all things considered. And at $20 it seems reasonably priced. The decks seemed balanced enough and were a lot of fun. Comes with two 20-sided dice. I'm a complete beginner in Magic so keep that in mind. Had to watch a several youtube vids and reference the online comprehensive rules quite a bit to figure out how to play. 5Five StarsNo Charizard? Pfft. 5Dueling Nerds 101I bought this set of duel decks for the after school game Club I sponsor and they are working quite well. The fact that the decks are balanced makes for a good and sometimes exciting experience. A co-sponsor and seasoned MTG player thought they were fun to play against each other. The drawback is that they will not stand mich of a chance against a wild deck or a more diverse standard deck. This however does not effect my rating at all. 5Easy to useI have never played MTG and these decks are great for beginners. The turn sheet and deck descriptions where easy to use and explained what I needed to understand to get into the game right away. If you want to begin playing Magic this is an excellent place to start. 5Fun but feels a little lopsidedMy 14 year old started getting into Magic behind my back. I hadn't played in years but was excited to hear that he was interested. I bought this after looking at some reviews over other duel decks and thought this would fit my play style the best.So I will say this one is very hard to win with the Mind deck right off the bat. Both of my sons of demolished me using Might. I see the elegance of the Mind deck but I still haven't figured out how to turn the corner. I would probably give this a little higher rating if it didn't seem lopsided right now. I will revised my review if I figure out the trick of Mind. 4Not for beginnersNo rules included. I'm a beginner, and I could not figure out how to play from what was included. Trying to find online sources now, but out can't cost more than a quarter to print a non-glossy rules summary. Beginners should go for another product. 3Very collectible and awesome! -thanksSo I want to thank the company that had sent me this product-thank you!But I just wanna say I do have Amazon prime and I chose 2-day shipping And UPS messed my order up and it did take forever to get to my house instead of two days it took four days. But that is not the manufacturer or the company that sent it to me fault by no means it was A UPS error ! So thanks again and by the way the package came perfect it looks presentable it doesn t look tampered with awesome item. And I also want to note that I did do a lot of investigation on these decks a lot of the cards in these decks are banned from standard play. So I got it for collector value and I also got it for so I can add it to my collection so if that doesn t bother you then get it because it s an amazing product! 5Good for one beginner and one regular player, but they are NOT balancedThe decks are good for a regular and a new player to start playing. The largest problem with the decks are balancing issues. The might deck is a literal counter for the mind deck. The mind deck is a slow moving blue and red deck that uses suspend to get combos with storm and to get good cards in general in play. The might deck is a fast hit hard, ask questions later red and green deck. It revolves around worriers that get powerful with things like call to arms and its leader, Lovisa (<-might have spelled it wrong) Cold Eyes. I have played theses decks on count 34 times.Might: 2 clutch wins and 31 wins in totalMind: 2 clutch wins and 3 wins in totalMight kills mind before it can even start to set up. When it gets going at round FIFTEEN it becomes an EVEN match between the two. The three wins it had all had a rift bolt, then grape shot, then empty the warrens while a young pyromancer card was out swarming the battlefield with goblins and elementals. Might is extremely easy to use while mind is a bit harder. On my Dads first game ever he beat the mind deck with ease. The only time the mind deck had a solid victory was when the might deck got his second land at turn FIVE. To salt the wound the mind deck has 0 ways to speed up mana production witch makes it even slower, while the might deck has burning tree embasary, rapid growth, and wild growth. 3Fast Fun for FriendsThis was a great purchase if you're looking for a quick way to play Magic with a friend. The pre-conceived decks make it so you can play it right out of the box, while the differences between the two decks makes for a fun dynamic. I also liked that it was cheaper than purchasing this same item from the store. 5
