Customer Reviews

Great way to have fun with the family over holidaysOur family is a huge fan of Fluxx, and this is the first year that we've had Holiday Fluxx. What a great addition to our game play. It's very much geared toward winter holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah, so I think we'll largely keep it only to this season. But that will give us something to look forward to each year between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. 5Winner Winner Fluxx Dinner!Another WINNER! My 13 year old son and I are addicted to the Fluxx games -- this one quickly rose to the #2 or #3 spot in our collection which we (he.... of course I meant he) started in November of 2012...For those who haven't played any of the Fluxx's yet -- what are you waiting for??! I do recommend the original version first -- the first hand might be a bit confusing, the second will feel a bit easier, and by the third you'll be slapping cards down like you were born doing so.Works for 2 or more players, so perfect for single parent and one child households -- so few games for just 2 players these days, it seems. We've had games last as long as 45 minutes, and others won within 5. You just never know, because everything is always in such a chaotic state of Fluxx!Fluxx was created by Andrew Looney and first published by Looney Labs in 1996. If you can believe Wikipedia, Andy Looney has won *9* game design awards. If you still believe Wikipedia, Andrew and Kristin Looney, and Alison Frane together run the games company Looney Labs, where Andrew is the chief creative officer. Looney Labs has published most of his game designs, such as Fluxx, Chrononauts, and the Icehouse game system.Disclaimers:* The majority of two paragraphs was shamelessly borrowed from said Wikipedia.* This review was not requested by Looney Labs, Wikipedia or Andrew Looney.* I do not receive any compensation for this review.Edited on 15jan2015 -- I was typing this so fast the other day that I said 2002 was when my son, who was born in 2001, began our, His, HIS! Collection of Fluxx games. Fixed it up there, apologies that I didn't catch it before I posted! 5FOR FLUXX LOVERSMy daughter hosts card games a couple of nights a week. The games they play are pretty random. One young man loves Fluxx; it's his favorite game, and he brings it with him every time. They played this variant and enjoyed it. 5Fun Fluxx gameI heard about this game from a friend of mine on Facebook. Since I love games and love to try new ones I thought I would give it a try. I started with Holiday Fluxx. Loved it! I have played with several family members and friends and everyone has enjoyed the game. Since one game isn't enough (they all have the same premise, but every version is unique) I ended up ordering EcoFluxx and Fluxx 5.0. Neither disappoint!I had a couple rules questions, so I called the manufacturer, Looney Labs. Terrific customer service. The woman I spoke with was knowledgeable of the products and answered my questions. While I was on the site, I came across their pyramid game. Of course, I had to try. They are equally enjoyable. There are 12 games to learn. I have learned 3 of them. The rules are confusing sometimes and I have written a few emails. Always prompt responses answering my questions.Anyway, I cannot say enough good things. Their games are different than the typical games found in the store. They are a small company and word of mouth is key. That is how I learned of this company and their games. They are portable and individual games can range from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. The rules constantly change, so they never get boring. Lately I play enough that they are out on the kitchen table. Since they are out my 12 year old asks to play. This is a good thing as her iPad trumpts games these days. So for her to ask says a lot! 5Tame but nice Fluxx. This is a fun Fluxx to play during the holidays with people who have never played Fluxx before. It is pretty easy to learn the game without some of the challenging things like creepers or zombies. For people new to Fluxx, they think it is hilarious and love the game. For people that have played harder Fluxx versions (Zombie, Star for example), it is a little tame, but still fun to play. 4Easier Version of the Traditional Fluxx GameThis is a simplified variation of the traditional Fluxx card came. The case makes it seem Christmas based, but it is actually all seasonal holidays. My children prefer this version over the other variations that we have tried because Holiday Fluxx doesn't have Creepers. Creepers are negative cards which make the game more challenging. It also has "double agenda" and "triple agenda" cards that make winning the came less of a challenge for younger players. In the end we have decided to pull our favorite cards from several different decks and we made our own custom deck. 5Fluxx games are a ton of funThe best thing about the Fluxx games is that anyone can play. Unlike many games which take a long time to learn, or which require a veteran to teach new players, this can be enjoyed straight out of the box, by anyone 8 to 80, even if they've never played before. Which makes the games perfect for family gatherings, parties and other events. Holiday Fluxx is not as fun as Pirate Fluxx, in my family's opinion, because it's not as complicated and cut-throat. But that might be preferable for those who want something simple and friendly. 4Tis the SeasonxxThis version of Fluxx has no creepers, that being said it makes it similar to Family Fluxx, Monster Fluxx, and some of the cartoon ones. That being said this version just like the aforementioned versions are great to get people started into the Fluxxiverse. We love, love, love Fluxx...after the first intimidating time we took it out of the box and thought "Wow, this is going to be hard." It most certainly isn't, you just have to keep at it, and maybe watch the TableTop episode with Wil Wheaton where he plays Star Fluxx, that helped me teach the mechanics to my family. My 8 year old loves these games, and without the creepers it makes it less "intense."All in all just good holiday fun. 5My 40 year old son and his daughter love this gameMy 40 year old son and his daughter love this game. It allows them to spend some quality time together and just relax. So pleased with the product. They have taught the game to my eight year old granddaughter who is looking forward to teaching her family how to play. I recommend this game. 5The game is like a moving targetI ordered this game for my coworkers who had never heard of Fluxx before, and it was a hit! Nothing like a quick (30 minutes) game of Fluxx during the holiday lull in the office to help the time pass by. The game is like a moving target, everything is constantly changing... but in a fun way! You can try to be strategic and plan your moves carefully, or you can try you hardest to sabotage the other people in the game, It's all up to you! I had several of my coworkers who ordered it after playing so that they could share the fun with their families! This is the holiday edition, but don't let that discourage you from getting it in the spring, summer, or fall! This game is lots of fun year around, and does not promote any single religion but rather embraces all of the holiday festivities in the playfully decorated cards. This makes a great ice breaker game, as well s a gift for new friends, and old! I highly recommend that you check it out today! (This also makes for a fun drinking game if you're into that sort of thing, and are over the age of 21) 5
