    great toy for yourclittle engineer!!!My little engineer loves all things amusement parks....so this toy is fantastic!!! It's easy enough to use that my 2 year old loves to play with it too! The only drawback is that it requires a lot of parent building, and I was hoping my 5 year old could handle it...but it's still a bit advanced! Once we spend a half hour putting it together, while it's awesome....it has to stay up for awhile to justify the effort! I'm going to buy the gears gears gears next, I think my son will love the entire line! Great toy, just be prepared that it's more parent guided! 4Great company, not so great product.Our son enjoys assembling and using these toys, however the motor which comes with it burned up during it's first use (as others have noted as well.) Customer service with the company is excellent. A simple e-mail netted a response from a real person right off the bat, they understood our problem and were sympathetic. They sent us a replacement part immediately at absolutely no cost to us. So, while the toy may have it's intermittent defects, all in all a generally positive experience because of the company's willingness to help. 4Great toyThis is a great toy with limitations. The electric/ battery powered component can only handle certain amount of gear load. The more gear you add the tougher is to move it smoothly. It has limited design. For instance you cannot build it up. But maybe not all 4 year old would get the idea of 3 d functionality.With the original/ pictured design there is enough of work to interest deeply a little engineer. Several hours of good fun. 4The gears keep getting stuck and I'm sure it's terrible for the motorIt's a little tricky for a 5.5 year old to put together. And some of the pieces have orientations, which is hard for younger children to see in the directions.The motorized part of the set (3/4 of the components) don't work particularly well. The gears keep getting stuck and I'm sure it's terrible for the motor. I keep fidgeting with the gears to get a tighter fit. The horses on the merry go round get stuck at the top sometimes. We're able to run the motor for maybe 10 seconds if we're lucky.I'd go with Techno Gears--their stuff isn't nearly as cute and adorable, but everything *works* 2Could use better instructionsEven though the age range for this set is older, my 4-year-old grandson loves it. I do have to help him a bit to follow the instructions (and, quite frankly, they are not that easy for me to follow). As with the other Gears! Gears! Gears! sets that we have, there is a motorized controller to spin the wheels.My only complaint, and the reason for only 4 stars, is the instruction booklet. It is very difficult to discern where some of the base pieces are supposed to fit together, and we have yet to get it completely put together. It would be very helpful if the instructions showed a top-down view for fitting the bases together. 4Remote broke in 30 minutes, motor dead after an hour, now its unusable!This item was purchased for my son for Christmas, and assembled with no issues. The remote control has two buttons on it, and within 30 minutes the first button stopped working, and wouldn't allow us to be able to turn the motor off. This caused the motor to run for about 5 minutes until we were able to take the batteries out. At this point the smell coming out of the motor itself was horrible. Coming back to the toy a few hours later, none of the buttons on the remote worked, so we told my son to play with something else, as you can't turn the gears manually with the motor attached, and its not stable enough to use without the motor attached. When we went to clean up the room someone grabbed the remote and burned their hand as the batteries were overheating inside the remote even though the motor wasn't working. This is a fire hazard! For a company that claims to build products that last and with a commitment to safety they have failed on both counts. I am hoping that this was a one off situation, but would not recommend buying this due to the issues listed above. 1Fun but with valid complaintsI read all the reviews before I purchased this for my 5 year old so I'll try to address the complaints of the other reviewers. First of all my husband could not believe the box said the toy was for 4+ kids. I think it would take at least a 10 year old to be able to assemble the toy by themselves. And only a 10 year old that was good at Legos or following Ikea assembly instructions would be able to put the toy together. So parent participation is definitely required when assembling the toy. Now that said, it was easy enough for my 5 year old to put the pieces together if I gave him the piece he needed and told him where it went. Overall, assembly was easy fairly easy, again you have to be familiar with following Lego or Ikea instructions and if you aren't then I would say assembly of the toy would be a bit more difficult for you. Now the complaint about the carousel falling off is valid. But it only happened when my son would run the gears nonstop. If you pulse the gears and let it run for only a few seconds at a time then the carousel was fine. But try telling a toddler to "pulse" the gears right?! The roller coaster is also a disappointment because the coaster tumbles down the track rather than sliding down the track as if it doesn't fit on the track. But in the end, after it was all assembled and my 5 year old had played with it for a bit, he said "this is so cool". Hence the high rating. Would I recommend the toy to others? It depends on the aptitude of the person I'm recommending it to. If it's a parent that is willing to sit and play with their child for at least an hour then I would recommend this toy, but if it's a parent that doesn't have that kind of time to play with their kids then they will only find this toy an aggravation. 4Motor does not work.I am not able to get the motor to work. Sorry I don't want to post a negative review. I have replaced new batteries twice and yes the batteries are in correctly. Please contact me because this looks like it will be hours of fun! 2Fun but a painLots of fun and very cute once it's put together, but there was no way my kids were going to do this on their own. I put it together for them, and it hasn't come apart since because I really don't want to do that again. The motor piece is also a little finicky and needs to be lined up JUST right to get everything to work. It's too bad, because if these were larger pieces that could snap into other Gears builds more easily, I could see my kids using it more. Instead, it ended up being a standalone toy, but with good imaginative value. 3The motor stopped working and caused a lot of tears!I have the regular set of gears, gears, gears in the bucket. The motor on the dizzy fun land, only lasted about 30min., then started skipping, and not working properly. It was a huge disappointment for my grand kids, which involved some tears! So your better off with the sets , that do not include motors. They still have fun with the basic gear set. 2
