Customer Reviews

Put an egg on it?I'm surprised this toy got so many stars. I'm a mom of 4 so I've basically owned every toddler toy possible at this point. I wanted something new for my youngest, who just turned 2. I bought this because it got decent reviews and looked cute. Unfortunately, I don't love this toy as much as I would like to. Usually these toys have several songs, but this one has hardly any songs on it so you hear the same ones over and over. And the songs are about putting eggs on food that shouldn't have eggs. I don't get it. Do people in other regions put eggs on their pizza? My older kids are just continually complaining about the toy because of the music, and I have to hear constantly "why does it only sing about eggs?" Also the toy has quite a few pieces, and I would love if ALL the pieces would fit into the oven. I may even be able to overlook the annoying music if it was easier to store all the pieces. Most of the items fit inside but not all, so I do find it hard to store. At this point, most of the pieces are missing and I'm left with an oven singing about putting eggs on pizza, a cupcake, and an oven tray. 3It's ok at bestI paid $13 so I'm not mad but I wouldn't spend any more of it. My son loves kitchen stuff so while we are waiting for his Christmas kitchen set I thought this might be fun. It's really just OK. He likes it for a few minutes but not more. It's cute and I think it's hilarious all the egg references but that's it. The food just makes him mad because it looks like it can be cut but it really can't. They pull apart sure but that's not how he wants to play with it. If you can get it for a deal go for it, but not worth a ton! 3The skillet makes a frying sound with the egg and it's a nice teaching toyThis is a darling edition to grand daughters kitchen. The skillet makes a frying sound with the egg and it's a nice teaching toy. However compared to a V Tech purchase that has 2 teacups, lemonade pitcher which is made better because those items click into the tray and stay in place. Making them easier to play with. I can't give this toy 5 stars because the frying pan slides right off the top and doesn't remain in place to play with. The oven door isn't easy to open and again the play food that you slide out from the oven rack doesn't glide easily. It could be built better. So the play becomes interrupted trying to fit things back into place. This product I would not purchase again. The V tech product I would. 4Great way to occupy your toddlerMy 18 month old grandson received this for Christmas and absolutely loves it. This oven comes chock full of food and kitchen items, many of which are already familiar to him, thus providing long instances of engaging playtime. My least favorite thing about this toy is the music feature; it plays several songs that not only grate the nerves, but roll around in my head for hours afterwards! Needless to say, this is my grandson's favorite thing about it and keeps him waving his arms and bobbing his head along with the tunes. The pieces are very durable, easy to clean, and easy to put away as all pieces are sto red inside the oven. I highly recommend this product. 5He does enjoy opening and closing the ovenWe purchased this toy for my then 14 month old son one month ago. He doesn't understand the instructions that the oven will give him and isn't counting yet (recommended age range is 2 and up). He does enjoy opening and closing the oven, putting the pizza or bread on the tray and putting it in the oven, and pressing all of the buttons to hear the many sounds this toy makes. This toy seems pretty durable and has withstood several drops from my toddler. Most of the items fit inside the oven so this toy is easy to put away when not in use (we have lost one cupcake...). Overall I think my son will enjoy playing with this toy for a long time and as he gets older this toy will help him with his number and counting skills. 5Great toy that my kids keep coming back to.I bought this Number Lovin Oven for my niece for a Christmas gift. It arrived packaged very well, but my 2 year old son was banging on the gigantic pile of amazon boxes that seems to fill up my entry way this time each year. Well, his little hammer was able to cause enough pressure to make the toy say some of its cute expressions. He wouldn t stop begging me to open it, so I figured I would let him play with it a little in its box. Yeah, don t know what I was thinking with that. His response to seeing this cute oven was Ooooohhhh!!! & Open, open, open!!! I thought it seemed really cute and since he was so interested in it (and it was close to his birthday) I couldn t resist letting him have it. Needless to say, he adores this thing!! He played with it all afternoon, BY HIMSELF!!!! For any other parents of Littles out there needing some free time, hours of playtime means hours of ME time!! I was so glad I let him have it. When his big sister got home (5 yrs old) he showed her the ropes and she was even excited to play with it. YES! Huge parent win!!! We ve had this toy for about 3 weeks and my children play with it just about every day. They serve food to me and my husband, and the dogs and I can honestly say that I think this toy will be used for a couple of years.Back to my niece; since I know my kids love it, I m sure my 3 year old niece will love it too. I got right back on amazon and ordered another one and it was actually a few bucks cheaper than what I paid for it the first time. Bonus!! 5So much activity crammed into one toy your aspiring cook will LOVE it!My 2.5 year old loves this oven. There's so much for him to do and play with and he loves dancing to the songs and breaking the pizza apart and passing out the food and serving the cupcakes and pretending to cook. For those who have complained everything doesn't fit in the closed oven, it does, you just have to think like a 2 year old because he's managed to cram it all in and close the door. There's counting and hand washing encouragement, just so much activity in one little toy. And for those who complain about the egg constantly being sung about I have to say get a sense of humor! I think the egg industry paid Leap frog off to mention eggs on everything (eggy cupcakes, eggy pizza, bread? Put an egg on it!) but it's so humorous that we laugh. If Leapfrog has taught me anything: if all else fails put an Egg on it! Life lesson right there. 5Songs aren't annoyingly repetitive.I bought this as a gift for my 18 month old nephew, and immediately he was smitten with it. My sister has been going crazy with his other toys that repeat the same song over and over again; my nephew has actually learned how to turn the volume up on those toys after she turns them down! But, with this toy, his parents aren't going crazy with the music and they actually find it quite catchy. Apparently, the songs really like to put an egg on things. Especially pizza. So, not only am I the best aunt to my nephew, but my sister doesn't want to throw the toy at my head for buying it. 5Oven Loved by Adults and BabyI bought the Leapfrog teapot and loved it (the baby it was for loves it *almost* as much as me), so I decided to try this oven. Currently, Baby is under the suggested age range for this product, but there are no small parts and he enjoys chewing on the fake food. Between the teapot and oven, this oven is probably Baby's preference, at least for now, because it has more pieces to gnaw on and he loves to stick his finger on the stovetop's red button to make the sizzling noise for frying an egg.The song lyrics are very catchy - and Baby is very attentive to them - and they definitely get stuck in your head. I have caught myself singing them on multiple occasions in the shower. They have some songs that make a lot of sense ("let's wash our hands, gather the ingredients, set the right temperature...") but also one that instructs "if you like eggy cupcakes, put an egg on it" - whaaaaat?!? So weird but it makes us laugh. It also teaches some number skills. When you close the oven door, it asks you to set the temperature to a certain number (between 1-5). If you don't set it correctly, the oven lets you know if it's too high or too low. If you set it wrong again, it says "Okay, you're the chef! This might come out a bit runny/toasty" (or something to that effect), which is pretty fun if you/your child is feeling contrary. 5This toy is EVERYTHING to my 2 year old with speech delayWe purchased the Number Lovin' Oven for my son's birthday this year. He is 2 and this toy kept him occupied long enough for me to clean the entire house and eat lunch!! That literally never happens!! My son is delayed with his speech and hasn't started talking yet, but this toy seems to be helping. He will touch the top and pretend to cook and when it sizzles he will say and motion "httttt". For us this was a huge deal because this is the first sound he's made with consonances and now with real food he will blow it off and tell us if its "httttt". Leap Frog toys in general seem to be his favorite toys to pick up. He really enjoys these toys and because of that I highly recommend this brand in general. Keep it up Leap Frog! 5
