Customer Reviews

Great price for a fun card gameWe enjoy playing Scopa, an Italian card game. Two, three or four people can play. You need to look up the rules on the Internet, but it is easy to learn and doesn't get boring. 5Authentic Italian Fun... A Few Things to NoteWe received these good quality, Italian Scopa cards quickly and carefully packaged. We'd just returned from a semester in Italy with my husband's students and had sometimes seen folks there playing. I ordered 4 decks as stocking stuffers for our card game-loving family (since I didn't think to buy them while there), as I thought they'd make more authentic and fun little gifts than many of the kitschy tourist souvenirs we often saw. A FEW THINGS TO NOTE: These are ITALIAN, not American (and not intended to be) so try not to be put off by negative reviews because the cards are smaller, don't have numbers on them or don't shuffle as easily the "normal" way. They're just as they're supposed to be for Scopa (and there are other ways to shuffle). Also, the card with the eagle and logo on it is one of the "ace" cards which makes the 40th card in the deck. We didn't realize this at first so thought we were missing a card. Finally, the deck only came with Italian instructions, but there are many easy to follow videos and instructions for this game online which we found helpful in clarifying scoring and strategy (even if yours happens to come with English instructions). We're still brand new at this, but find it lots of fun and are looking forward to learning Briscola. Our family's going to love these! 5Good but has no numbers printed on themGood quality but has no numbers on it so it is hard to know which card is which unless you start counting each card. 3Fun also fo elementary aged kids becoming fluent with their ...A traditional Italian card game with slightly different looking playing cards desined regionally. La Scopa is a card game played all over Italy. Small, thick playing cards with ethnic design. These cards are not numbered. You will quickly learn the value of each card by counting the items on the card.. Kings, Knights Cavaliere or Horse Cavallo), and Fante infantry soldiers have their own value. Four suits (swords, cups, clubs, and coins) I found an app of the game which helped me learn La Scopa. The game rules are written in Italian on the back of a playing card. Find more complete explanation online in English. Fun also fo elementary aged kids becoming fluent with their math skills. After a great Italian meal - a fun diversion. 4Add some Vino for a fabulous nightYes I love these cards! We use to play Italian card games with my family and these cards brought back mucho memories! 5Whim turns into extremely fun game for whole familyI bought these cards on a total whim and let me say that they are worth every penny and more. I have always been a fan of unique looking playing cards ever since I found a German Skat deck in my grandma's house as a young kid. Upon trying to find a decent Skat deck, Amazon suggested these "Italian Scopa Playing Cards". I caved in and bought them and used Wikipedia to learn the game. Scopa is easy to learn, involves a little bit of strategy, and is good for all ages. Everyone from my 6 year old daughter, retired teacher mom, and mathematically challenged 20 something co-workers loves the game.Beware that the cards are diminutive and very stiff. Shuffling becomes a chore. There are different styles of Scopa cards from every region in Italy, so once you start, you'll probably become like an obsessive kid with Pokemon and try to catch 'em all. 5The illustrations are beautiful and they are nice thick cardsThe illustrations are beautiful and they are nice thick cards. They are not the size of standard American playing cards, but we are having fun learning to play the games. We also bought the book. 4Nice item. Have family in SicilyNice item. Have family in Sicily, Italy and enjoyed playing the game. I have a scopa deck my father left behind when he passed, but I don't want to use it, since he was the last one to play 18 years ago so I like a deck to play with, reason why I only give it three stars supposed to be here by August 24 by 8:00pm but didn' get it until the 27 3Amazingly AddictiveI had a friend from Italy that introduced my family to Scopa, and after playing a few games, I had to own a deck. After searching in vain at various retail stores, I figured that this game is truly authentic and has not reached American markets. I then turned to Amazon, and found them! If I had to recommend a deck design, I would choose this one. It is has a less mass produced look than the usual decks you see, and the designs are intricate and beautiful. The cards came with Italian and English instructions for both Scopa and Briscola rules included. It also came with a box to hold everything. The game itself is very addictive, and great for parties, and family gatherings.Overall, I would highly recommend this product for people who travel a lot, love card games, or just want to have a little piece of Italy. The price is dirt cheap, and the shipping is fast. 5Great game, deck is alright. The cards look nice, the game is fantastic! My only beef is the cards do not lend themselves to shuffling. They are smaller than a standard American deck, and very stiff. Not sure if it's an Italian design, or if they are just low quality. They just don't seem to want to break in, even after quite a bit of use. I would like to get some nicer ones eventually.A note on scoring. To figure out Primavera, find the highest card of each suit in your respective piles, then add those values (the "prime" listed for each) together. That rule wasn't very clear to me for a while, hope that helps someone. 4
