Customer Reviews

Made a G reat T reat Cards arrived in 2 days and were as described on website. Easy to learn and fun to play. I also played the game alone with same goal of getting rid of all cards. Convenient for travel due to small size and simple rules. 5Fun, maybe not as much so for the younger set....This game is a lot of fun, but it's best to play with similar age groups. It's not easy for the littler ones to play at a good speed, like adults can. However, it's still a great game to secretly teach kids with! It takes all of a couple of minutes to understand the rules, set up, and go! Basically the players pick a 4 letter word to start with, pull that word out and then deal out the rest of the cards. There are two letters on each card. You go through and try to change the word on the table into a new word by replacing one letter at a time. Players yell out the word they are changing to, and 'slam' that card into the appropriate spot. It's not a turn based game, it's a speed game. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins! Simple enough. My sisters and I have a great time playing without the kids too! 4Making spelling AND Math lessons more fun for the kids!I originally bought a few of these to give as gifts. I quickly realized they would be PERFECT to use while teaching my son to spell. They are a convenient size, nice and clear letters, and they work wonderfully for our spelling lessons. Besides using the cards to spell the words I give him, he can also use them to come up with words on his own.We even came up with a way to use the Scrabble point values, to make it even more fun (and a sneaky way to practice his math). When he comes up with words on his own that he spells correctly, he adds up the points and gives me a total. I write the total on our Score sheet, and when he gets to certain point levels, he earns little prizes (a sticker, a Hershey kiss, etc.)We have a lot of fun while doing this, AND it sure does make study time go faster (for both of us!). Along the way, he's learning spelling, math, and that a little creativity can make learning fun! 5Fun gameI gave this game as a gift. They said it was fun. It seems that people who like word games will like this game more. The small games are also great to take on trips. Compact size, easy to carry. (when I give games as a gift, I always ask for honest opinions . They don t like every game I give them. Ha ha ha.) 4MUST HAVENot just for kids! The two of us are in our late 20's, and we totally love this game. It's perfect for something fast and exciting that will get your brain cooking. This is the PERFECT game to keep in the car for road trips, hotels, even just a night at the bar with friends. It's one of those games that you say, "Rematch!" immediately after you play each time, it just keeps going! As a reading teacher, I also brought this game to school to use with a small group of 4th graders that were struggling with reading. They LOVED it and requested it time and time again. I played this with a group of high readers that were in 2nd grade, and they didn't want to stop! This game is awesome, quick, and soooo much fun. Buy it, buy it, buy it! 5We love this game. It's fun, fast paced and easy to take along.I'm always looking for fun things to do with my 13 year old daughter. We love playing games, but I wanted to find some fast card games for when we don't have much time or if we're on a trip and need small games to bring. This is an excellent game for us!The general game is you start with an agreed upon 4 letter word, then deal the cards out. Then when everyone is ready to go everyone starts adding one card at a time to make new words. This isn't a taking turns game. Everyone goes as fast as they can. They call out the new word as they place the card. Whoever gets rid of the cards first wins!We play this with 2-3 players usually and it takes about 5 minutes from start to finish. It's fast, fun and easy to learn. I like that it's a little mentally challenging as well. Definitely a great, inexpensive purchase! 5This game will end up staying in a drawer.I had hoped this game would be fun and a little challenging but it wasn't fun enough to be played more than a few times and the biggest challenge was trying to hold all the cards fanned out in your hand. There are no points on the cards so there is no score to be kept. Cards are double sided with different letters. You start out by spelling out any four letter word using the cards. All the players then race to play all their cards spelling different words on top of the original word. The first person to play all their cards wins. If you're playing with only two people, each person ends up starting with 25 double sided cards that are larger than a standard deck of playing cards so it is difficult to hold and see all your letters. You don't take turns or keep score which makes you lose some interest in the game. Scrabble Slam kept us entertained for all of 3 minutes. Its just not that fun to want to keep playing. 2Fun, Fast-Paced ActionWe are a family that enjoys playing games... most any kind of board game, card game, whatever... can be found in our home. My daughter loves the original Scrabble, but the boys don't like to compete with her word nerd vocabulary!! So, I thought we'd give this a try and see if I could get them interested. My daughter, the biggest critic, was in dismay when she saw this!! She was like, "this is stupid!" But, I'm like, "it's still Scrabble, right?" She wasn't buying it. Then, I got her to try it. The fact that everybody is scrambling at the same time to go through the cards - since letters are printed on the front and back of each card, this can be a bit challenging - and come up with a word, games can get pretty quick and pretty intense real fast. Especially if you think you've got something and somebody slams down a letter to change the word before you can get yours down! Just one or two rounds and my daughter was hooked!! Now she wants to take it to school and "beat" her friends! LOL!! It's a great mini-size Scrabble edition and can be fun for the whole family! Just watch out for those made-up words... there's always somebody trying to sneak one in!!! 5Portable game; teaching resourceThis is a decent game, though hardly like Scrabble. You have a set of letter cards divided between the players after using four cards to set a four-letter word on the table. Everyone races to be the first to use up their letters changing the base word (and all subsequent words) with one letter to a new word. I think the directions say it's a fifteen minute game. Once everyone knows how to play, it takes about 2 minutes. The cards are well designed, having a large letter on each side with references in the corners as to what the two letters are so you can hold the cards conventionally and know what is on both sides at a glance. We added game variations such as requiring that a letter in the same position can not be changed twice in a row (so the players aren't mostly making rhyming words) and allowing longer words by inserting letters or adding them at the beginning or end. The cards themselves are a great resource for imaginative play teaching phonics, word structure, and reading. 4Fun, Fun, FunThis is a really fun game with two to six people. The goal is to end up with the fewest cards. The rules are short and easy to understand. One deck of cards with a letter on both sides. This can get a little confusing. There are two letters on the top corner to show what is on both sides of the card. The game moves so fast, you don't really know what cards the other person might have. We played a four player game. Each round was over in about two minutes or less. We were all shouting and laughing. Expect a lot of laughter. If you are playing with younger children, it may be a slower game, but it will be a lot f fun, nevertheless. This game can beg taken anywhere, purse, pocket or luggage. It is a fairly inexpensive game and very simple to learn. It is so much fun and would be an ice breaker for sure, anyone who plays the game will become very interactive.I bought this for stocking stuffers. I think it will be a winner.Recommended. prisrob 12-03-13 4
