Customer Reviews

Virtually unusable by anyone over 40I love and still have the original version from the 90s, and was excited to find this updated version. But unfortunately, this game is virtually unusable by anyone over the age of 40. At my last game night, we gave up after two rounds. The card reader and cards are half the size of the original version, and the print type is smaller. Add the red plastic overlay required to see the answers in the reader, and forget it!! Very disappointed. 1Great game, fun for all ages! This game it's lots of fun, and a lot harder than I expected! There are 3 large stacks of cards included, and each has a category on the front and on the back, so you'll get plenty of great play out of this game! The cards are good quality, my only complaint is that it's tough to read the red ink on the red view screen. I know that's just kind of the nature of the beast, but I have played games in the past with a similar mechanism where I didn't have to squint and hold it close to my face. But that's not enough to make me downgrade this to a 4-star review, so it really jut comes down to personal preference I guess. It's a great game that all ages can play together, and if you've ever watched Family Feud then you already know 90% of the rules. 5I can't see it... LOLOmgoodness!! I bought this game for myself and friends who are 38 to 52. Just a girls night for us. This game added such comedy in the fact that NONE of us could read the words on the card. We were putting glasses on and taking them off... just amusing. I didn't keep the game but gave it away to someone much younger.. this game is NOT for all ages in that sense. 1Love Outburst. This version is unusable though. If you find this review helpful please LIKE it so others can find it before buying.Outburst is one of the handful of party games we pull out every holiday season at parties because it is a solid game. I'd give it 5 stars. The older version was beginning to become too dated for our teens to recognize some of the answers.I'll be returning this version unfortunately. It just won't be enjoyable to try and decypher these answers as they are definitely hard to read. I think they may be just trying to sell all these "defective" ones off.I tried an extra red plastic sheet to see if that helped (see photo) but no good. The picture I'm uploading is actually an improvement over seeing it in person, but i don't think that would be a practical way to play the game.I'll stick with my 1990s version until they fix the red viewer issue. 1but I finally clicked the buy button and am glad I didI was hestitant to buy because of the negative reviews, but I finally clicked the buy button and am glad I did. I have no problem reading the cards as a normal 30 something with bad eyesight. It s a fun game for family game night and is a much improved (current) version of the circa 1990 game our family has been playing for 30 years. 5Fun game; Wish it was designed to be readable.I own several versions of this game, and for reasons which defy logic, Hasbro has decided to print the cards (which must be read through their red decoder) almost impossible to read, even under direct, bright light. I don't understand why the game needs the elaborate decoder in the first place, since the opponent doesn't even see the card you are reading to them! Apparently, someone at Hasbro used to work at the CIA and feels like national security might be compromised if the opponent (or, for that matter, the reader of the card) can actually discern information from the card. While the game itself is fun, and the newly updated card topics make the game relevant for people who are younger than 20, I would be a bigger fan if I could actually read the cards. 1I could see if we were older it could be more difficult to see the answers but for anyone with good eyesight it should be fineI was worried about being able to read the cards after reading some reviews on here. It may be a tad harder than the original game but we could play - no problem at all! I could see if we were older it could be more difficult to see the answers but for anyone with good eyesight it should be fine. 5Unreadable CluesWe had to return this game because the clues are unreadable in the view finder. The tiniest print and so distorted you can read them. Take a pass on this version of the game. 1Nice to finally updateI bought this game to update the early 1990's edition of Outburst that we have that was bought over in England.I really like the check system on the reader, but the reader is a bit difficult to read the cards with. People who have colour deficiencies or other vision impairments will have a greater difficulty in reading the cards. It's really nice to have an updated version of the game that doesn't still think a Cellphone is brand new revolutionary technology. 4old people like me can't read the card, but the young folks can!I had the original game and loved it so wanted to try this one. I had read mixed reviews - some saying you couldn't read the cards, some saying you can. So, heres the deal....in our house, anyone over about 40 could NOT read the cards. Not kidding - something to do with the contrast of the colors I guess. But anyone younger than that had no issue AT ALL! I mean they couldn't even understand what our problem was. So...you need enough youngish people to help play the game so they can read the cards. 5
