Customer Reviews

Do not buy the Classic Clear sleevesDragon Shield - Classic Black (100-Pack)I have bought two of this pack and was pleasantly surprised by them. The first box was in great condition with the sleeves fairly warped as mentioned in other reviews but this was fixed easily. Simply put cards in them and let them set over night and they'll be great the next morning. The second box came with a corner slightly bent but the sleeves themselves were barely warped, if at all. The texture has a nice feeling to it while making shuffling a lot easier. The sleeves themselves also give the cards a nice heft to them compared to normal. Durability is great as well. I have been using these for just under 2 weeks now and have yet to have a single sleeve split.Solid 5/5, would definitely buy again.Dragon Shield - Classic Clear (100-Pack)I bought one box of these and was extremely disappointed by them. Frankly these sleeves feel extremely cheap compared to the Classic Black sleeves. The fronts and backs of them feel decent, but the edges leave a lot to be desired. The edges have small plastic burrs all over them, the corners catch on each other nonstop, overall it just degrades the product to something I would expect to buy for a max of $2.50 from the dollar store, not nearly $11. This does not feel like a Dragon Shield product at all. There's even an extreme difference even in the pictures between the Clear and the Black sleeves, even with the Black sleeves having been used for nearly 2 weeks (30-40 games) and the Clear having not been used once.Weak 1/5 at most, would not buy again even if the price dropped to $5. 3A bit pricey but really greatFrom my research, alot of resources were saying that they are the best sleeves on the market, and after buying them for the first time, I finally agree! A bit pricey though as I could have gotten double that amount at the same price point with Ultra pro for example. One thing to note is that I thought the box would be made of thin plastic so it would be good for storing cards, but I was disappointed when I found it is made of paper/thin cardboard, which I wouldn't personally trust with my cards. Also, I didn't like the glossy back that much and will get matte version next time.If you want the best Dragon shield is the way to go. 5Great protectorsThese are well worth the price because the quality is great! They aren't sticky and slide easily when shuffling but it is more difficult to shuffle with these on. I find it easier to slide half the deck up and down between the other half than a traditional shuffle. We have these on our Splendor cards and it works great for those. We also have some on the Forbidden Island cards and again, sizing works well. They are a little tall but no big deal. We usually drink and party when we play games so I enjoy that these will keep those bbq fingers and drinks off my cards. They wipe clean really well with a lysol wipe. I would definitely buy again! 5The only sleeves I would buyI'm a casual Magic: The Gathering player, and I found these to be perfect for being the outer sleeves while double sleeving. I've purchased Dragon Shield sleeves before, and I still think that they are the best sleeves money can buy.Pros:- Insanely sturdy. I have yet to have a Dragon Shield sleeve split.- A nice glossy finish that not only complements the black color, but it also makes shuffling significantly easier.- Perfect for double sleeving as the outer sleeve. I recommend KMC Perfect Size sleeves as the inner sleeves. Before reading the cons, know that each problem I mention is only temporary and can be solved.Cons:- Glossy finish makes the sleeves a bit too smooth. My deck would easily get knocked over with only a slight nudge. However, this problem was fixed after some shuffling, and they still retained their glossy appearance and were still easily shuffled.- Sleeves get dirty incredibly fast. This problem can be delayed by playing on extremely clean surfaces and making sure your hands are clean when you play. If you do this and the sleeves still manage to get dirty, which they unavoidably will, a very small amount of rubbing alcohol and a tissue will easily clean the sleeve and restore it to its clean, glossy origin.- Double sleeving with these as the outer sleeve will leave a noticeable air bubble trapped inside the sleeves. To fix this, separate the double sleeved cards in your deck into six piles, and place a few text books or other large, heavy objects on top of the piles. Do this before you go to bed, and the sleeves will be permanently air-free by the time you wake up.Overall, I think these sleeves are amazing. They basically pay for themselves since you never have to replace them, and any problems you encounter can be easily solved. I'll probably never buy a different brand of card sleeves ever. 5Orange color is slightly transparentThe quality of these sleeves, from a protection of cards stand point seems good enough. In the end i have only a problem with the slight transparency of the Orange colored sleeves. If you use these to sleeve up a magic the gathering deck, and in that deck you have dual sided card, like Delver of Secrets, you can see that the card does not have the standard magic card back through the sleeve. This is a problem of course because your deck can't be tournament legal if you can see the difference between the backings of your cards. In any other deck this would be fine, but unfortunately the Delver decks are fairly popular, so this flaw makes it impossible to use these sleeves for those decks.I was really hoping they wouldn't be transparent after finding that the Ultra Pro orange Matte sleeves were semi transparent as well.So far I've only found that Black Ultra Pro, and the Red KMC sleeves do not show any transparency. I think red ultra pro's are good as well, but haven't tested them yet. 4Better than UltraPro. but not the best option for double-sleeving with KMC Perfect FitI find them to be a better option than Ultra Pro deck-protectors ( the ones with holo stickers on them) for Pokemon and MTG cards.Why?- Dragon Shields have thicker/ more high-quality plastic- CLARITY. This is a big deal. Dragon Shield sleeves are 100% clear. You can see your cards in clear vivid color unlike 90% transparent supposedly "clear" ultra pro deck protectors.- I find Dragon Shields to be perfect single sleevesNOTE for DOUBLE-SLEEVING:- Saying from my own experience, they don't work for double sleeving with KMC perfect-fits, (IF you want to put the sleeve base in opposite directions.)You can still double sleeve them if you put the sleeve base in same direction. But then what is the point of double sleeving if you do that?- You can double sleeve together with UltraPro Pro-fits as inner sleeves since they are tighter than Perfect Fits.but I DON"T recommend this since Pro-Fit sizes are inconsistent, too tight and will bend your cards slightly. 4Best Sleeves for MTGI play Magic: The Gathering and sleeve all of my cards. I've used a lot of different sleeves over the years from Ultra Pro, Legion, KMC and other brands. I have to say that Dragon Shield sleeves are the best sleeves that I've used. These are superior quality in durability. I've never had one of these split since I started using them. These sleeves are also tight and stackable right out of the box unlike many other brands. With a lot of sleeves when you get done sleeving a deck and you put your deck on the table your cards will spill out or the deck will turn over. Not with these Dragon Shields! Overall the best sleeves money can buy. Do yourself a favor, and spend a little more to buy these. 5Great Sleeves, had one minor size issue between different batches.I have been purchasing these sleeves for a couple years now. I really like them and have not had any issues with them breaking or splitting.I would highly recommend them for anyone that wants to use and protect their cards. I use them for my MTG card and they work great.I only play MTG with friends and I do not compete in tournaments. I am careful with my cards and I am not a crazy shuffler like I have seen people do with cards with sleeves. This probably helps with them being in good condition longer.Only reason I am giving these 4 stars is the last couple boxed I purchased the sleeves seem to be a very little amount different in size. You can barely notice it when looking at the two sleeves next to each other, but I can feel a slight difference when shuffling or straitening them out into a stack. In the package the sleeves were the same size, but I had mixed this batch with a previous batch and could tell a small difference. This may not bother some people. I hardly notice it, but it is noticeable.Other than that issue I have had great luck with them and will continue to purchase. 4Difficult to shuffle, thick materialI use this product on MTG cards, and have a Commander Deck with them (100 cards). I've been using this product for a few months, and this style just isn't for me I guess. The back and front of these are glossy, which means friction-wise they will adhere to each other passively. I keep my hands clean when I play, and I don't eat/play, so I can assure you that they don't have some foul oil coating on them gumming them up. The result is that shuffling these cards can be a bit of a task, and each shuffle takes a significant amount of effort and time to accomplish; when you're searching your library and shuffling every turn/other turn, these cards make the task damn near impossible to do in a timely manner.I picked up matte-back cards to gain some perspective, and not only are they easier/quicker to shuffle, but they also weigh less. Holding two different decks in either hand, I can feel the difference. I'm not about to claim that I'm getting a work-out holding these cards, but they are more cumbersome to shuffle and move around in my hands as a result of the additional weight, that I just don't get from the matte cards. Also, do not use these cards if you don't have a cloth play-mat to play on. The edges of the sleeve bow inward towards the face of the card, so when you put your deck down on a hard-surface table, the bottom card cannot be lifted if you've trimmed your fingernails within the past 5 days. So if you ever need to put your cards from your hand down on the table to do something and you lay them face-down to keep it hidden, you're now stuck with a card that refuses to lift, forcing you to scoot it off the table in order to get it off.All that aside, my cards are damn well protected in these sleeves. Months of daily use, and no bent corners or frayed edges from any of the cards I've inspected during trade-outs. The front plastic is nice and clear, but it can get a bit scratchy after a while. Putting cards into the sleeves is easy since the gloss grips to your fingers, but the sleeves can get a slight bend in them if you use the pinch-roll motion to open up the sleeve's slit. All in all I'd say that these are good cards with some drawbacks. If you're worried about getting your cards dirty and don't play in clean environments, then get these sleeves - they're rugged and will protect your cards. But if your fingers aren't covered in snack dust and you play in a clean environment, then these sleeves may not be the right ones for you, especially at this price-tag. 3Quality protection for your deckI wish I just got the silver ones. The color is ok, but not really my style. These are the best quality sleeves I have used. I have bought over 12 boxes some from amazon and some from card shops. Amazon definitely has the cheapest price. They are 12 or 13 at my two closest card shops.Picture is for color comparison to other dragon shield colors and sizes comparison to max protect sleeve. 5
