Customer Reviews

If you want to learn inking with dip pens these will make you a true believer!I tried to learn inking with dip pens years ago but I gave up because I hated how stiff the nibs were. I saw this starter kit and decided to see if I would have a better experience with Japanese nibs instead of the cheap speedball packs....needless to say these nikko nibs completely blew me away! They are stiff enough to give you the consistent lines you get with multiliner pens, but also flexible enough to give you thicker, more expressive lines with more pressure. If you want more expressive line work but are having trouble with brush pens, then the Japanese g-nib will be your new best friend! This is the starter kit I recommend to anyone who wants to experiment with Japanese pen nibs. The only thing I would change is to offer a nib cap instead of the manga paper sampler (which I never tried full disclosure) Important to note, like most pen nibs these come with a clear anti-rust coating that you need to remove before you can use them. You can clean it off with nail polish remover (DON T burn the coating off, that can damage the nibs!) 5The best part is definitely the holderI found this product delightful. The best part is definitely the holder; it's easy in the hand, not too big or small for any hand size, and has a cute cat (part of the Deleter logo) on the surface. The pen nibs fit well and easily, there is also 3 pieces of thick, smooth paper provided to practice on. The nibs are not stunning, but they are good. Not too scratchy-though I would not recommend using the mapping nib on standard sketchbook paper, I've had a fine time with the G Pen and Nikko (especially the G pen, which is becoming a fast favorite). The set is overall a good beginner set, and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to try out dip pen as a new art medium, whether or not you're experienced in art in general. Far as caring for them, do your research, but it's pretty simple, just don't leave them too damp or anything (will rust).(also, I reccomend Black Sumi or Dr Ph Martins ink with this pen)You can also use the holder for better nibs later on. 10/10 for value and quality. Fast shipping, too. 5Great for artists looking for dip pens If you are looking to use inks to draw - don t buy the calligraphy sets you find online, this is the item you want to buy. It draws beautifully (even for beginners). The quality of the product is great! It is just a sample kit, but well worth the money! 5Fantastic!!Fantastic!!! Definitely recommend this kit to all artists looking to get into inking, regardless if they are starting out or pros. The pen nibs offer a variety of hatching styles and they are very smooth to eork with. I immediately understood the fuss. Would buy again and again. 5Great dip pen set for any inker! This is a great set to have or give to an aspiring artist! The dip pen adapter has two inner rings to allow for two different types of nibs. It's a great tool because I have multiple pen nibs but only one pen adapter until I got this! The pen nibs provided provide a wide range of line weight that can be achieved & is a great starter set for anyone. 5Good for practiceShipping was very acceptable. Product was good. These will be good practice for me. Since I m not good with dip pens yet. I really like the small one: Saji-pen I think. I read on the card that it s good for smooth consistent lines. I cannot wait to use them in my sketches. 5Smooth nibsI see why these are so popular with artists. The nibs are very smooth and write well.Hint: dip the new nibs in hot water to remove a coating. They'll pick up ink better. There are three nibs:The "G" which is the most commonly used for cartooningA b "maru" round nib--it's the smallest one and fits into the center socket of the holder. Also called a crow quill. For fine lines and detail. The saji-pen, or spoon nib. Has a rounded tip. Makes broader linesThe holder is ok but a bit short. A more comfortable handle is the Tachilkawa. These are dip pens. You dip into a bottle of ink. I like ZIg's Sumi-e ink. 5A very good starter kitA very good starter kit. The nibs it comes with are of great quality. Using just the g nib, I can achieve hair like lines to bold thick lines with ease and control. The Holder is comfortable to use and it holds the nibs well with no sliding or twisting. You'd just have to slightly force the nibs in place and it will hold with no problem. What I like about it is that this holder can hold both the smaller Maru nib and the larger nibs. I highly recommend this manga/comic dip pen. 5 stars 5Great set for beginner comic lineartists! This pen is perfect for a beginner like me! I got a set of India inks for Christmas a few years back and with my growing interest in lineart, I bought this set to try out my hand at traditional pen comic work. As you can see from the photo, I'm HARDLY the best at it, but the pen holds ink VERY well! I don't like the smallest nib because the sound is so scratchy but the other two are great!I'm primarily a digital artist, but I also dabble in Copic markers and I wanted to see if I could make some unique and colourful linearts with these! 5It's Everything They Say It IsI started using this recently. The handle is easy to hold and feels good in the hand and the nibs guide over smooth paper. If you're using watercolor paper, use the smoother side. Not the best with sketchbooks with thinner paper 100gsm/65lb paper (the sanji gets caught and tears into the paper). I put my Saji nib in the Deleter holder and my Maru and G-pen in Blick holders. I use the Saji and G-Pen most of the time, with best results from the Saji. I use the Maru for facial features when drawing at A4 unless I'm drawing big. All and all, I like these pens. Best results with Deleter paper or my Panel Pages A4 Professional Doujinshi Paper.-Nathyn Brendan MastersTimeCode Mechanics Youtube Channel 5
