Super fun game for family nightA friend told us about this game and I thought by the name it would be dumb. They brought this game over for game night and we had a blast. It's a super fun game and you can have adult conversations all going on and still keep up with the game. Highly recommend. We also played the game with our late aged teenagers and they all enjoyed it. It's not a difficult game but it's game changing based upon the roll of the dice. 5Easy to learnBought this for my son who is addicted to games. He didn t care for it. (To be fair, he got spanked pretty badly. Maybe I should have let him win. LOL). The game is easy to learn, is simple, moves quickly, does not require a lot of room, and there is no complicated setup. I think it meets a lot of requirements of a good game. With that said, it will not get played again. So good game, just not our cup of tea... 4Boo HissThis game is not that much fun. I bought it for my family to play specifically for my little sister, not fun. Just a random dice game, no need to use any logic. Not recommended for teenagers, might be more fun for younger kids, 8-10. 1A great game for all!Ordered this game for my kids for Christmas, it was a great choice! Easy to play!!! My son is only 8 and the rest of the kids are teens, so sometimes it is hard to find a game that we can all play, and this fit the bill. My youngest has some health problems and I would recommend this game for a child in the hospital. With slightly adjusted rules, it can be played by just two people sitting by a bed. Also, although it is recommended for 8+, I think that a slightly younger player could play as well. 5Fun game, easy to learnI bought this for my grandson. We quickly learned the patterns and it was fun. I just played with people but would be more fun with more people. Plenty of cards for a group or can buy two decks if you have more than 6 people. Some things for improvement-have suggestions for how many cards to deal in a hand for 2, 3, 4, etc players. Laminate the die pattern instructions as these will be needed to play the game. 5except for the super competitive, because there's little strategy involved with the ...Got this game on a whim, to play with the family on Christmas Eve. Turned out to be a big hit with everyone - from the almost 90yr olds, down to the 6yr old. For the 7 of us, we dealt the entire 2 decks, and we also allowed the 6yr old to put his cards face up on the table so he didn't have to hold them all. (This would be do-able for most players, except for the super competitive, because there's little strategy involved with the other players hands - more so in what you roll.)The game initially seems complex, when you're reading the rules, but play a couple rounds and you quickly pick it up. Have one person (with good eye sight - cuz the print is extra small) in charge of checking against the cheat sheet on the back of the instructions. You'll soon learn that Two Deer in Headlights icons, with any number or face card, means LOSE YOUR TURN. You'll also quickly realize that anytime the Car icon is rolled you get to give your cards to other players (vs. discarding in the middle) and roll THREE Deer in Headlights icons just one time and you'll never forget that it means you have to pick up ALL the cards from the middle discard pile & stay frozen til you roll another Deer in Headlights icon on your proceeding turns. As for the actual game construct - it's a smartly packaged set. The cards, dice, instructions & scoring tablet all fit neatly into a solid cardboard sliding box. There's even room to stow a ball point pen for score-keeping. Compact enough to take as a travel game, though, not something you'd play in the car. The 3 dice are solid, a bit over-sized and made of wood - no problem for hand or cup rolling.Such a simple concept game.. Super fun for all ages - especially when the trash talk begins! But remember, there's always pay-back when the Car icon appears. 5LOVE this game!We LOVE this game! Very easy. When we have friends over we pull this game out and they pick it up right away. There are a lot of combinations of the dice rolling that's hard to remember at first so I photocopied the rules sheet to let friends look at if it's the first time they are playing the game until they remember what the rolls mean. It's a fun light hearted game. There's not too much strategy or skill needed- more of a luck game so it's fun to play at parties. Friends of ours are huge game fanatics and we were having a game night at their house one night and played a bunch of new games. But this was our favorite by far and ordered it on amazon that night and had our own set 2 days latter! Would recommend! I'm looking at other games from this maker now.Note- would not recommend for young children. It says 8 on the packaging but they have to have a good memory to remember all the rules for each type of roll. 5Whole Family Loves This GamePoppy O'Brien gave his traditional gift of games this Christmas and we are glad. Deer in the Headlights is great fun. The little kids won't have any trouble learning or playing. The medium and big kids and the adults won't get bored, either. This includes two decks of cards, three special dice, scorecards and directions. Super easy directions. I mean it. Even with our Aspie boy in charge of the rules (oh, he's a stickler and can usually be counted upon to make everything as complicated as possible), we were pros within minutes. Our family usually doesn't keep score in any of the games we play, but we do with this one - first game in a while in which the scoring part is fun. A nephew scored 400+ points in one hand, which has now become a family legend. We played with 12 on Christmas Family Game Night (used both decks). We play with 3 during dinner on regular days and with just 2 when Daddy's at work (used one deck). The cards are just regular decks of playing cards with the Deer in the Headlights theme on the back, and they are a bit flimsy. But if your toddlers bend them or the dog eats a couple, just use a plain ol' pack of cards. It's the dice that are essential. If I were to give one recommendation to the manufacturer, it would be to beef up the cards, maybe even make them waterproof like the poker cards we have. If they did, we would for sure laminate a score card and take this game into the pool, lol. 5simple to learn- fun to playWe got this game to take on a camping trip. It was relatively easy to learn- but one of the dice has a blank space- not sure why.. so we had to modify our rules. Once we did that it was fun. I like this game because there really is no strategy involved- so everyone can play and feel evenly matched (it's all about the luck of the roll!). Even as we kept drinking, we were all able to play! We made up little expressions to remind ourselves what the dice combinations meant (like 2 dear to play means you miss a turn). Fun Game! 5Fun party gameWhat a fun party game! I've played it with about eight people and with only three. Each time we've had fun. It doesn't require much in the way of planning, leaving time to socialize. The dice are sturdy and were easy to read. Unlike the picture, they didn't have pips. Instead there were numbers. The games last longer with more people because the score is lower for each hand. With three people, we usually got in two or three hands. Just be sure not to roll three "deer in the headlights," especially toward the end of a hand. If you do, take a deep breath and realize that another game will start soon. 5
