Customer Reviews

A life saver for kids or those that throw dice rather than roll. This works as advertised and collapses down to a small size. I have a few nephews who seem to take out the game every third roll or so so this helps. One problem it has; if you roll too many dice, say 6+, they seem to 'jump the toe' and keep going. Not a problem that comes up much and when it does they ones that get out don't cause nearly as much damage as they would have for those players. Also, you can 'aim' the boot away from the game pieces when using it, for this reason I only took off one star. 4Works perfectlyMy board gaming group had previously used a cardboard dice boot that worked well, however I wanted another one because I was lazy and didn't want to continuously pass the existing tower around. Looking at the different dice towers, this product was the only one that was clear, so I gave it a whirl.I received the tower as expected - disassembled. Assembly was easy and took only a minute. The tower worked better than expected.* A bit taller than our existing dice tower and had one additional pivot "bounce" point that allows for more random rolls. (Not scientifically proven, but it was a discussion point!)* Longer bottom cage than existing dice tower. This means more dice can be rolled at once without having to "mod" the tower by removing the end piece of the cage. For example, with King of Tokyo, the larger dice did not fit in the old tower's cage but do in the new towers cage. Small dice also work well in the new tower - no stuck or missing dice.* So far all dice we have tried fit in the tower - including the large King of Tokyo dice. Also handles small dice easily.* Clear construction allows for entertainment when rolling the dice too. I know it is cheesy, but we spent 10 minutes rolling dice through the tower to see how it sounded, performed, and just because it was so much cooler than the existing tower.* The cost is higher than other card-board towers, however from what I have observed so far the increased price is work it. The product construction appears to be solid enough, however I would not sit or step on it - it isn't that strong.Overall, no regrets. I'm going to get another one as a present to replace the existing card-board dice tower. 59/10 I placed my order on Friday, the Dice Boot arrived Monday. I chose standard shipping, and the package arrived three days early. A+The instructions are simple and straightforward. I opened the package, and less than sixty seconds later, it was fully assembled and having its first roll. A+Surprisingly for it being made of clear plastic, it isn't loud, even when rolling five dice. I do not have anything larger than a d6 to roll, but the three baffles (four if you count the bottom that puts the dice into the tray) do an excellent job of randomizing. AAs other reviewers have said, sometimes the dice "jump" the crosspiece at the end. When rolling two d6, out of ten rolls, neither die jumped the crosspiece. When rolling five d6, out of ten rolls, one of the d6 jumped over the crosspiece three times. This can be avoided by placing your hand directly over the top of the topmost baffle and releasing there (essentially dropping straight onto the top baffle, rather than at an angle). Rolling that way reduces the jump rate to zero. Solid CShipping speed: A+Ease of assembly: A+Loudness: ADice containment: Solid COverall: 9/10, am already planning to purchase another. This Dice Boot could be improved with a slightly taller Crosspiece at the end of the tray. 1/4" (6mm) taller would greatly reduce the five dice "jumping" problemI was not compensated in any way for this specific review (discount or otherwise.) I wanted a dice tower, and this one looked like a good one. 5Everything I wanted in a dice towerEverything I wanted in a dice tower. It disassembles and goes flat to easily fit in my gaming bag. It assembles quickly and securely. It has enough baffles/slopes to truly roll the dice with a lot of action. This is actually the second one I have purchased. I am still using the first but this was a gift for my buddy who wanted one just like mine. 5Great little tower that is easy to carry around and reassemble if you need.Instructions were super simple, and it was very fast to assemble. Due to our DnD group playing during the night, I decided to add some felt padding to just the inside to reduce noise. But so far, our group has been enjoying it alot. The only downside thus far, is that the gate at the end that stops the dice, our dice tends to jump over it occasionally. 5Works greatOverall, this works great. It's easy to assemble and disassemble for storage. The plastic is thin, so I don't think it will take much abuse, but for rolling 1 or 2 dice at a time it should hold up fine. Amazon needs to do a better job on the shipping package. The item's package is a semi-rigid, flat holder. Amazon stuck this into a padded envelope to ship it. Given how thin the parts are I'm surprised it arrived intact. It really needs to be put in a box. My only reason for not giving this 5 stars is the price - it just seems expensive for a few pieces of thinly cut acrylic. 4Great for the priceFor the price, it's a great little dice boot. First once I've ever owned. Putting it together and taking it apart doesn't take long and isn't hard to remember how after you've done it once or twice. My only real complaint is that I wish the bottom of it was just a little bit taller to prevent dice from popping out. That happens sometimes when you roll a lot of dice at the same time. 4It works, but....It does the trick you'd expect it to, but not as well as you might like. First of all, it's very flimsy even fully assembled. I glued the edges which definitely fixed the problem, but I've noticed another issue after using it a few sessions.d4's and d6's especially dont like to roll. In fact if you allow the dice to just sit on the top lip and then release, it'll more times than not land on the number that was facing up when released. An easy fix would be to add some grip tape or felt to the ramps, but as I said, I already glued it together. For the price you cant really expect perfection, and honestly it's easy to fix the problems it has with everyday items in the house (well, maybe not grip tape). 4Perfect for my dice rolling needsThe dice boot arrives unassembled, but with the included instructions it is very easy to put together and doesn't take more than a few minutes to do so. Each baffle slides into place securely and the front and back plates prevent the dice boot from coming apart. When it is assembled, the dice boot is sturdy and secure, and there's no problem with rolling plenty of dice, picking up the boot to move the dice out of the way, and setting the boot down again without it starting to fall apart. The dice boot allows you to roll a large amount of dice at once. I believe Pizza Box Football comes with 13 dice, and I was able to send them all down the chute at once. The stress over thinking you suck at rolling or that your opponent has more skill at rolling dice is removed with the random results of the dice boot.As for the noise factor, it's not a factor. If it's noisier than rolling by hand, then it's only barely noisier, and that noise lasts a whopping second or two. I happen to enjoy watching the dice tumble through the boot and the sound the dice make. If this is too noisy, I recommend a nice, quiet ipod app.Taking the dice boot apart is very easy, and the boot lays flat in its original plastic packaging, which snaps closed and stores easily considering it's so thin.Highly recommended! 5Very small, and bottomless.I had read that this dice boot was small, but I wasn't quite prepared for how small it is. The opening at the top (where the dice go in) is only about 2.5" x 2.5"---small enough so that you have to deposit the dice somewhat carefully. And then the tray where the dice land (it's more of a corral, since there is no bottom) is only about 2.5" x 3.25", which means it's not easy to scoop the dice up. Another reviewer suggested it was nice to be able to pick the boot up and gather the dice off the table, but mine doesn't stand up to that kind of repeated handling. It holds together well enough in use, but if you repeatedly pick it up again and again, once in a while one panel or another will fall off. While it's true that a lot of dice will slide down the chute, and the boot does a good job tumbling the dice, getting the dice in the chute in the first place isn't the easiest. Not the best for bigger dice or large numbers of dice. 3
