DisappointedI was very excited to receive this toy, my son is crazy about train crossings for his Thomas the train wooden railway. However, the gates don't open or close as advertised. I would return them but I'm just keeping the toy because my son is 3 and was very eager to play with them. He has to control them manually since the magnetic function is not there. He doesn't know they were supposed to function by themselves. I'm disappointed in these gates. 2Big Disappointment !We got this for our son for Christmas. He has a bunch of Brio, Thomas, and other brand wooden trains, track, and accessories. I had high hopes for this because it is made by Brio, but what a disappointment. It literally does nothing. I'm at a loss as to what is 'magnetic' about it. The gates do not go down when a train goes by. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 instead of a 1 is because he is amused by all crossing gates and he just uses his hand to operate it. If it were up to me I would return it. Save your money and buy a generic brand manually operated crossing, since your child will have to operate this one manually anyway. 2Brio is always a good buyI was a little disappointed that the magnetic part of it only switches them down. You have to manually put them up for the train to put them down while passingButmy 3 year old loves it 3Great crossing. Wish it had sound.It's great. It works just like the bell one, except when the train goes by, the bars fall down. You do have to then raise the bars back up after the train goes by, but that's what it's all about for the kids. It does not work by magnet, trains do not trigger this gate operation. It does not work 2Awesome add-on for our son s trainsI am impressed with this crossing. This is well constructed and the gates work great with the magnetic trains. When the train is pushed by the crossing the gates close on their own....no batteries needed. They have to be opened manually one the train has passed, but this just adds to the fun our son has. Would recommend and buy again. 5
