Customer Reviews

It's a good model kitIt's a good model kit, it holds it's own in articulation and can do just about anything up to date Gunpla can do and then some in some cases, the knifes don't hold well without modding or gluing same with the side skirts, and the sword can lead to weight problems but those issues can be solved fairly easily, from a straight build this Gunpla looks great, with panel lining it can look fairly better, with paint in place of afew stickers it will look far better, it's arms use the Exia style connection so it won't be compatible with most modern HG kits but works with 00, old Seed, remastered Seed, and afew random Gundams, also it's torso can be swapped with almost any modern HG, it's legs are on universal joints and as such are compatible with almost any Gunpla that doesn't use a ball joint and highly articulat, it uses a softer plastic for the joints making it more durable and less likely to end up with loose joints, overall i recommend this kit to anyone who's a fan of the Astray and collects HG kits as it is a must have. 4Good Buy, Good BuildFor the price, the HG version of the Blue Astray is well worth the buy. The build takes around 2-4 hours but is well worth the effort. Things to note about the Astray is that if you've already build the Red Astray or Sengoku Astray, you'll find the build to be very similar as they're essentially the same model. The sword can cause some posing issues as it does weigh quite a bit in relation to the model. Most stances will be a balancing act of keeping your gunpla from falling forward. The two knives are also a very nice touch, but you might want to use some kind of coating to keep the sheaths from splitting. All around, the build was entertaining, and I highly recommend purchasing this model if you are a fan of Gundam and are just starting out building. 5The overall build was very fun and the final product was greatThe overall build was very fun and the final product was great. HOWEVER the wrist joints felt too loose to hold the giant sword. Sure there was a stand included but getting the sword into a decent pose is a struggle as the heads keep popping off. 4I love the Seed Astray SeriesThe model kit was delivered fast and the box undamaged. This model kit is a tough one to put together but had a huge great sword with a machine gun inside of the gundam model's sword. Which was amazing and it has a secret daggers located on the feet of the gundam model. (Not so much of a secret now haha) The only flaw I could say about the blue frame is that the great sword can be used like the strike's aile pack however it would make the blue frame tip backwards and there is a stand but it does not do a great job. Overall this was a great model to get and worth the buy! 5An excellent, good looking and fun kit to start with.I never got into the whole Gundam anime thing but I always thought it would be a serious offense not to have one of these kits displayed in your place of choice. As a new kit builder I'm really satisfied with the results. The huge ass buster sword is an amazing piece by itself! How these pieces translate to work themselves into wings and a sword is extremely well pulled off. You can manage to strike some nice poses without a stand, but can very tricky due to the weight of the sword, but still doable. After doing some simple gluing it became considerable less troublesome to pose.Overall Is a really nice basic kit that shows the amazing potentials of Gunpla kits. I can recommend this one, 10/10. 5Because gunblades are still cool, right?Note: all of my builds are from the perspective of a novice builder who does not paint and uses the decal sheet. This will NOT get you the best results for any build. If you have the time, try to learn how to paint, and get nice waterslide or dry transfer decals instead of using the stickers whenever you can. Due to this, I will not be posting pictures of my builds unless I want to illustrate something specific. My builds do NOT do these kits justice. This is a very handsome looking kit that I found very easy and pleasant to put together. The contrast between blue and white with the orange accents gives it a very clean look, and the decals on this one are actually not too terrible for adding a bit more color separation. Articulation on the model itself is quite good for a high grade, allowing for a high degree of posability... provided you aren't trying to make use of its primary gimmick: its backpack/sword/gun.Despite being the primary draw of the kit, it's actually the weakest part of it in my opinion. It LOOKS cool, without a doubt. When fully deployed as a sword or as a backpack, in fact, it looks slick. Its weakest mode - and the hardest to pose - is the gun, but you really just want it to be a giant sword, don't you? Of course you do.The sword is extremely heavy. It comes with that stand for a reason. It's also helpful when you're using it as a backpack because it makes it extremely back-heavy and gives it some needed support. The problem with that is that it's really hard to get the sword in any pose that isn't a two-handed grip and make it look right. The gun mode, realistically, really only has one decent pose. If you're the type of person who likes aerial poses, you're going to have to figure out how to support the sword - possibly with an additional stand (not the included one,) or some reinforcement of the wrist joints so it can actually hold the thing. The issue you'll find with that is that the sword is actually a bit... floppy. It has several joints to facilitate its various modes, and again, without support, it will flop all over the place. It's a shame - it's definitely the draw of the figure and is basically a model in its own right, but the 'gun' is probably at its best as a backpack for aerial poses, allowing you to take advantage of this Astray's other weapons.Overall: good kit. The primary gimmick is not executed as well as it probably could be, but for a very inexpensive high grade, it's still extremely nice and you can still get some cool poses with it. Just don't expect to get much in the air if you keep it in sword mode. 4A HG kit that is slightly more difficult than most.A bit more difficult than most HG Gunpla kits.Extremely mobile, and has lots of cool blades. (Sword, Combat knives, and boot knives)Sword transforms into a Gatling gun stand & a backpack for flight.I recommend building this HG kit, or one like this before experimenting with Real Grade (RG) or Master Grade (MG) types. 5Great ModelI've always loved the astray designs, so I knew I had to get this model. For pros, it has tons of features: toe knives, armor schneiders, and that giant sword that transforms three ways. It looks great, and the orange/blue/white works very well. It's a very versatile kit, and has a lot of potential for different poses. I also appreciated that they included the open hands; choice is always good. There are, however, a few cons. The first thing is that if you are going to go for a straight, no paint build, you are going to have to deal with some horrible stickers for the front shoulders and the sword/backpack thrusters. These parts do not seem particularly small or hard to incorporate into the build as separate pieces of plastic so I am confused as to why Bandai decided not to just make them as such. The second problem is the Tactical Arms (sword) itself. Yes, the sword is heavy and may have some trouble with posing, but there are certain ways to get around that, and I'm not particularly concerned with that. The problems I have comes with its two other modes. My model's right hand guard connection seems to be a little weak, and popped off too many times when I was trying to get my left arm positioned around the gatling gun. That is easily fixed with glue. The biggest gripe I have with the sword is its backpack mode. There is no solid connection for the flight pack to the back of the model; it simply sits into the indentations through the power of gravity. This, of course, will lead to posing problems, where the astray will pretty much have to be upright if you don't want the backpack to fall off.Unfortunately, the model loses a star for me because of the problems with the tactical arms and erroneous sticker choice, but it is still a great kit, and something I highly recommend. 4Very ImpressedThis is the first time I have bought a Gundam model and I am very happy with my purchase. It took me about four hours to complete the assemble it and clean up and it was very fun and I was very satisfied with the completed model. Getting the stickers on was a bit of a challenge (mainly due to my large hands) but they stay on very well and add detail to the model. I am happy that they included a stand for the sword as I plan on having the model hold it. The ball joints for the hands and the back plates for them that allow the hands to hold the sword are a bit loose but I attribute this to their size and I do not mind it that much because they still stay on as long as I do not put it through rigorous movement. I plan on purchasing more Gundam models in the future and I would recommend this one to anyone who is thinking of buying Gundam models. 5hands don't stay in well......very nice and fun to build, not a lot of stickers and i didn't see the need to paint it either. the only issue i have is making it hold the sword, moving the joints to pose it while holding the sword (even with the stand provided) the hands kept falling off and dropping the sword 4
