The Best Quality Wooden and Felt Toys EVER!!!My baby girl recently turned two in mid-October and I bought the IKEA kitchen set. She had pots and pans but no food. She and my two older daughters used blocks for pretend. I bought a toy chest from IKEA and hacked it to be a matching fridge and checked out amazon! THE QUALITY OF HAPE TOYS ARE AMAZING!!! The size of the food is more suitable for children around her age group but risk of choking isn't high either.The colors are as vibrant as posted and detailing of each piece is done beautiful. My newborn son has a rare condition that effects him if he is around toxins in toys, clothing, paints, etc, so finding eco-friendly toys is also pertinent. Although eco-friendly, style, look and quality was not compromised! I know my children will have fun now and even more fun in the future.Any parent looking for the best quality in toys and also being eco-friendly isn't bad either... try Hape Toys! 5Nice set.This set is really nice-- The olive oil, vinegar and pepper shaker are all beautifully made, and I like the veggies that were included. Even the lettuce is great-- it has actual sewn details rather than just being pieces of felt.That being said, there are a few things I don't love. First, The salad bowl is plastic, which I really don't like. Hape is famous for wood toys, and salad bowls are classically wooden, so I don't understand why the bowl is plastic. Second, The orange strips of felt included (supposed to be carrots? cheese?) don't really add much to the set. I wish that either they had more detail or they weren't there, as I feel it cheapens the set. Finally, the utensils aren't as high quality as I expected, but perhaps some food-grade conditioning oil can make them look a little nicer. I'll have to give it a try.Overall, I'm glad we have the set (if just for the olive oil and vinegar, which make a great addition to his "Healthy Basics" set, also by Hape) but it could definitely be improved! 4Beautiful quality and lots of funI bought this along with the Hape pita kit, and it is perfect for my 3 year old and 1.5 year old. I love the felt and the wood together and I have been served many salads in the last few days.The little pepper-shaker is too cute, it rotates and even rattles like there is salt inside.I would definitely recommend this set. Even the plastic bowl is durable. 5Pretty cutePretty cute. I assumed the lettuce and carrot strips were wooden too, but they are felt. It says that in the paragraph description, but I missed it. Also the bowl is pretty small and it is plastic. I swapped the bowl out for a bigger mixing bowl and bigger wooden salad tossing utensils from around the house and it seems more fun to play with that way. The pieces are pretty small, so definitely keep eyes on during play time. Definitely wash everything down with soap and water before use - the pieces are attractively chewable to little ones. 4very cuteI don't write tons of reviews but this item is too cute not to write about. I wanted to write this so that if someone was contemplating this for a holiday gift they would be encouraged to go for it.Great size for small hands, bowl is a plastic material, it may have stated that but I had thought it was wood, but no big deal at all, still super cute.What made me take the time to write this review was the attention to detail, the pepper shaker is actually a pepper grinder, there are rattly pieces inside the grinder so if you shook it you can hear the fake "pepper corns" inside. Also the orange part on top twists like a real pepper grinder for an extra touch.Very cute toy! 5Highly recommend! Read before buying!Exceeded my expectations! Such a cute concept. We bought our one year old a kitchen set and have been getting food and beverage accessories for her to grow with. She s obviously too young to understand the concept but it s fun for her to place each wooden piece in the bowl. It s a hit for sure. The onions and cucumbers are too small (they just about fail the toilet paper roll test) for her though so we set those aside. She loves the felted lettuce too. Love love love! 5PERFECT gift for a toddler!Pros:-------1. Great quality. As advertised and pictured.2. Safe for toddlers.3. Holds up to daily usage.Cons:-------1. Although this is not really a con the bowl needs a lid. The lid would make storing the toy more effective.Other Thoughts:---------------------Don't think twice about the purchase. This product is still being used by my kids over a year later. My only suggestion is that the manufacturer include a lid for the bowl. The lid would make storage more effective, and prevent the loss of the toy ingredients. 5BEAUTIFUL and DURABLEPROS: beautiful solid wood play food (with some felt components) durable so far it's holding up to 2 years of play (see pictures) healthy foods represented bottles and pepper shaker versatile for imaginative playCONS: wish the cucumber, tomato and onion slices were a tad bigger, so they could be used by younger toddlers as well without being a choking hazard (not a real issue with the set, just something that would make the play salad more versatile for multiple age ranges)This play set gets lots of use by my 3.5-year-old (who has been playing with it since 2 years old) and my 1-year-old likes these as well to sort and put in and out of bowls, though I only let the baby play with the bigger pieces and while keeping a close eye. The pepper shaker makes shaking noises, which my children love, and the bottles get used for many imaginative purposes as well (milk, sauce, cream for coffee, spices, etc.). I like that the foods included are healthy, though the only thing my kids don't make with it is a salad :-) they use all the components in other dishes, so as a set it's still a hit and very versatile. The detail of illustration on the veggies is nice and I'm very happy with how it is holding up after 2 years of play (everything, even the felt pieces, is essentially still in perfect shape only the olive oil bottle has a bit of wear around the edges). 5No one ever mentioned the pepper mill!As expected from Hape products, this is a very good quality play set. All the pieces are wooden except for the felt lettuce leaves & carrots and the plastic salad bowl. Also - I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pepper - is a pepper grinder! The top twists and when shaken it rattles! My daughter is only 15 months old so she may not yet understand all these pieces - but she loves her play kitchen and this is just a great addition for it! 4One of my favorite kitchen toys!This is one of the best play kitchen items out there in my opinion. There are so many nice pieces, and your child can actually build a salad any way he or she wants, as well as using the ingredients in other foods like sandwiches, etc. It's also great for teaching about the different veggies, how to make a salad, why veggies are important, etc. The little pepper grinder is so cute, and makes a nice shaker noise for simulation play. My two little girls very much enjoy playing with this set! I think it would also make a great gift since it is something most children aren't going to have already! 5
