Aqua Sphere: good heavy-duty Stephan Feld boardgame using programming as a major mechanismAqua Sphere is a good heavier strategy boardgamer-game by Stephan Feld. This particular Feld game uses a heavy-duty programming mechanism. You are playing an underwater scientist trying to perform several actions, but only being able to do a limited number of actions at a time. You are in competition with other players for resources or positions on the board. This game also adds in a similar mechanism to the "rats" mechanism in Feld's "Notre Dame", with smaller consequences.I'm giving this a 4/5 stars because of the steep learning curve and ability to teach quickly; also, you have to be very into programming games in order to love this. I do really enjoy it, buy to me the playability is a bit lower given the sea of games available to choose from. I bought this, I've played it three times now and really enjoy it; I'll keep it, but in the long run, I don't know how often or how many others I'll get to join me for it. 4This game is a really great game. It is a little hard to understand ...This game is a really great game. It is a little hard to understand at first but once you start playing it's so much fun! The art is really nice and the game itself is of great quality. My husband and I play a lot of games and this one works well with just two players. It's a long game, so expect about an hour at the least. 5One of Stefan Feld's best games.Simple to learn but it will take about 5 - 6 games to really get how to maximize points while tempting your opponent to go to one area vs. another. 5A very unique and entertaining gameI love having the aspect of time as currency in this game. There's a solid number of options you have each turn, and there's a fair amount of competition for certain resources between players such that even in a 2 person game you get some decent interaction. It's a great addition to any game collection. 5Great game.Four of us (all with "euro" experience) played last night and everyone enjoyed themselves. None of us had played before. Reading through the manual is a little daunting and I highly recommend watching some of the youtube videos out there for this game. After the first round, I understood the mechanics and by the end of the game, the rest of the table had too.The main board (well, set of 6 boards) is awesome. The engineer board had a slight alignment issue. The player boards are a little crowded and would benefit from a third-party acrylic overlay to hold the pieces in position. Also, thicker card stock for the player boards would have been nice. The meeples and other game pieces are well done and the overall art is great as well. I will come back and update my rating after a few more playthrus. There are enough things going on and interaction between players on the board, that it seems like figuring out a reliable strategy for winning will be difficult. It should hold our interest for a long time. I don't recommend this as a first "euro" game. There are a lot of options and it would be overwhelming. Some of the table suffered from trying to analyze too many options. 5Fun, engaging, complex gameThe game is fun and challenging. It would be helpful to have someone familiar with the game during your first play, however, as there is a lot going on, and the rules, while complete, were complex enough that we (four fairly experienced strategy gamers) ended up playing well over the first half of the game incorrectly. 4Five StarsGreat game, challenging and versatile- beautiful components and highly enjoyable 5Kinda confusing at firstReally like this game. It looks confusing at first but after you start playing its really good. Wouldnt say its an easy game but its enjoyable. 4Four StarsGreat game. Looks strange at first, but there are so many tough choices to make. 4Great game. I love games with complexity and lots ...Great game. I love games with complexity and lots of paths to winning. This is one of them. You want to do so much but have limited resources so it's a constant balancing act. Two player is OK, three and four a lot more fun. 5
