    Value! Huge Expansion for Thomas the Train set.There is a lot of track in this box! The track is well made and appears to be made out of a decent quality hardwood. We have existing Thomas sets. Here are the differences: 1) These tracks are one sided. Some of the other sets have a track on the back side that would work with small cars. Not important to us. 2) Detail: The Thomas tracks have cross ties etched into the tracks giving them a more realistic look - these do not. Also not important to us. 3) Sizing: The lengths are not the same as Thomas sets. Not important. 4) Dimensionally: They match up very closely in width and heigth- maybe a 1/32 difference - not at all an issue functionally. As a side note - I noticed similar variation with in the Thomas set. These tracks match up and work well with the Thomas tracks. Very happy. 5Great Expansion Pack OptionI'm a perpetual deal-hunter, so when Prime Day arrived, I was scoping out all of the things I had been meaning to buy anyway. More train tracks for my two young girls were on the list. I was excited about this set because it had a lot of basics to make a variety of track configurations.When the package arrived, I was pleased as I took out the tracks that all of the pieces were consistent in quality--you don't always get that. There is a good variety of all the different kinds of tracks you would want too. Depending on you child, you may get away with buying this and a few trains. I already had a small set and a few trains I had purchased second-hand, so this was the perfect addition to our track collection.My girls have been playing with them a few weeks now and even with a few being tight, they fit extremely well together and have withstood the constant banging/throwing/chewing that happens with young kids. I'll even plan to bring a few of these to work with me (I work in an elementary school) since they are pretty hardy.Overall, I think this is a good expansion set that functions well and is well-made. I'd definitely recommend! 5Choo Choo!!!My three year old son was so excited to receive this gift for Christmas. Literally every single day he wakes up and plays with it, and at night I catch him sneaking out to the table that it's on to play with it some more. We did purchase the trains from this brand so everything looks lovely together. I love the fact the tracks fit very well together and it came with a lot of pieces. He's had so much fun the past few days playing with his ChooChoo I'm considering buying the expansion pack. For very young train enthusiasts starting out with their first trains, I would recommend getting this track set and some trains instead of a ready made set. This same company offers a 12 piece train set for a very reasonable price, together you will have many more options and much more fun than a regular starter set, and all for a much better total price for what you get. The pieces in this set offer so many layout possibilities. For very young children, I do not recommend elevated ramps, they will get knocked over too easily. This set does include a small see through tunnel that young children will enjoy. Also, sets that include extraneous pieces like houses, trees, etc. aren't going to be appreciated by the youngest kids, they just want to push trains around the track! These tracks are very well made from quality wood, no flaws, very consistent connections. This great assortment of pieces will allow you to create simple to complicated interconnected railroad layouts. As your child grows you can buy more track to allow your railroads to grow accordingly. These tracks should offer years of fun! 5Sharp edges and splintersThese are much worse quality than the Melissa & Doug pieces that we are adding them to. But they're also about half the price per track segment, so I guess you get what you pay for.The M & D pieces are perfectly smooth, like they were sanded after being cut. The M&D cuts are clean and consistent.These tracks have some very rough cuts, they are sharp and even have some chewed and splintery parts where the saw snagged.They do fit together with the M&D pieces, but not perfectly. If I had it to do over again, I would pay the extra for more M&D pieces, they are much nicer. 3Nice set but some pieces unfinishedThe set is vey nice and the tunnel is great. I did, however, have a couple of pieces of track that were unfinished or improperly finished. You can see in the pictures that the circles aren't fully cut out or sanded down. The unfinished pieces don't allow other pieces to connect and they are very rough - too rough for little fingers. I just removed those pieces from the set in an abundance of caution. 3Compatible but not the same quality as another Orbrium set we have.I bought this because it was a lightning deal and we have another Orbrium set I absolutely love and is awesome. I was very surprised when these pieces weren't sanded especially at the connectors and many pieces fit so tightly that they don't like to squeeze together or come apart. This is mostly a concern because I bought this for a 3 year old and ill fitting pieces are frustrating for a toddler and me when I have to fix things because he can't do it and this limits his imaginative play. The major difference between this set and the other besides the obvious ill fitting connectors is this set came shrink wrapped and the better quality one was bagged in Ziploc-ish baggies. You can feel the difference also these are rough to the touch and our other set is very soft. I would still buy this again because it was a good price and most of the pieces work fine but I was expecting a better quality product because I've had better from this manufacturer. The tunnel did fit our chuggington trains just fine and arrived intact, and the switch tracks and adapter pieces are quite useful. All in all I'd say 3 pieces are unusable and about 7 are difficult to use this should improve with play but a little frustrating in the meantime. I've begun setting up the tracks myself to avoid confusion in the toddler and try to break them in but this limits the potential of this toy just a heads up. 3Get what I paid for - should have paid more.Bought this track set from gigglebabies fulfilled by amazon prime.Good price for number pieces I received - they are all practical pieces for construction.The connector are loose, compare with fisher price bought from toysrus. If I make square loop using the 6" turns and 6" straight, 2 at a group, I could easily save 2.5" on one of the straight. Such loose connection plus in consistent surface finishing cause consistent detailing at the same points of a loop, while using better quality track will not have such problem.End up returning it - for young kids, I would love to give them a more positive experience compared to the adult world. This will form their value and future.A quality set of similar set up will cost 4 times the price - like many other toys - balanced bike, scooter - yet they will benefit the kids through their minor years - well worth it. 3Check for Quality IssuesThe quality of these tracks seems lower than other track sets we have purchased. There were a few pieces in the set that were broken or had jagged edges. I would check the pieces in the set before letting your children play with them. But for the pieces that were good, they fit well with other track sets.EDIT: I wrote into the seller and they replaced the items that were damaged. They took good care of us and made the quality issues right! 4Outstanding product and value!My daughters' received the Thomas Figure 8 expansion pack and the Thomas Gold Mine Adventure Set, along with Tidmouth Sheds, Knappford Station, and a Railway Signal for Christmas. As newbies to the wooden railway scenes, we didn't realize until we put it together that we needed A LOT more track in order for them to utilize all the buildings that we had bought. I started looking for more Thomas track to expand their existing pieces. Since we had invested so much in their first pieces buying only Thomas, I wanted to buy additional track that was also Thomas. However, after this product popped up in my search and I checked out the reviews, I decided to take the chance and buy this "generic" brand. I am so glad I did. First of all, came in two days thanks to Amazon Prime, amazing, thank you! Second, the pieces are solid wood, not soft, and are assorted beautifully. The variety of pieces complements the existing sets and pieces we had perfectly in terms of layout. As described in the product description, the pieces DO FIT with all the Thomas pieces we had. The only things we had to fidget with for a second were the dual track "v" shaped pieces that have the balls at the end. We had to figure out that they were easier to place from the bottom up as opposed to from the top down. When completed the trains moved smoothly and seamlessly over the entire layout. The value cannot be beat. I am so happy with this purchase, I will probably be coming back for more. I highly recommend these for anyone looking to supplement existing wooden track. Great product! 5
