Customer Reviews

Great quality not kid friendly priceOur toddler likes to build and had a smaller more travel friendly set of these. I wish he was more interested in these for the price. Great quality product though 3Grandson enjoyed these! This was a Christmas gift to my 22 month old grandson. He enjoyed playing with them. It intrigued him to have the magnets hold the blocks together. They were a good size for his little hands. The edges were very smooth, so no splinters for little fingers. They are a bit expensive, but it looks like they will last a long time. 5We love these, but more blocks are needed to make play fun $$$My little one has loved these blocks since she was just a few months old. We previously owned a set of 24 blocks with less variability in the block sizes than this set. The small squares and angled blocks make it possible to create a variety of designs, which is a bonus over the other set we already owned. With that said, there is not a lot of play that can be done with only 24 blocks, you almost need to plan on buying more for these to be fun and engaging as the child grows. Thus the reason for 4 stars, these are so expensive when it is inevitable that you will need more for them to be fun. Another disappointment I had with this set was the box it arrives in. While the box was large enough to fit in our other 24 blocks (48 total), that meant it was actually half empty upon opening, so the set seems less impressive upon opening. The box to our first set was thicker cardboard and folded over with flaps to keep it shut. The lid for this box will just lift up, there is nothing to keep the box held shut to hold the blocks for storage. If you don't plan to store your blocks in the box, then this isn't a problem. Overall, we love these blocks. The colors are beautiful, the wood is so smooth, and the magnets are super strong, yet well encased so there will be no issues with a toddler or baby accidentally swallowing. The downside is the steep price for what you actually get. 4A very big set, with lots of shapes!I was surprised to find out that this is a really big set. As compared to other Tegu sets with tiny pieces, this is definitely more worth it. Tegu is a lot fun to play with, and this set comes with more shapes than my previous sets. A minor complain is that the set I received has four pieces that have some non-cleanable paint residue, chipped paint, or cut on the edge. I just hope that the paint does not come off more as time goes on. 4Fun blocks, though somewhat limiting! These blocks are fun, and they look beautiful and unique. Both my two-year old and my seven-year old love them, and I have no doubt as to their quality. However, I can't help but feel part of what you're paying for in these blocks is the packaging. The packaging looks like it's meant for display purposes, it's really quite nice--but I just threw it away because these blocks won't be carried around in that at all. I bought these at the same time as I did Magna Tiles, and those seem to be preferred because you can do a little more with them. The problem with the Tegu blocks is that the magnets are only in the ends, which is just fine when they're smaller blocks. However, the longer blocks are limited with what they can build or be added upon because, again, the magnets are only in the ends--so no stacking of blocks can be done mid-length along the longer pieces. I would still recommend these blocks, but only on sale--even then, these are quite pricey. I'll add that these are exceptional on the airplane, carried along in the Tegu felt tote--which has room for this set plus a 30+ set of Magna Tiles. 4Fake? Damaged, chipped and discoloredWe love Tegu and have never had a problem with any other sets but we received this box and it was suspicious from the start bc the box has a sticker over the original packaging that indicates TINTS which is what I did order, but the box shows the regular (original) wood. When I opened it, I discovered that the green block has damage to it, picture included below with the green color chipping. The orange long piece also has discoloring that is different from my other Tegu sets. I m not happy with the quality and I wonder if this was somehow a fake set of Tegu but I bought it on prime day and I expected the original authentic Tegu magnetic wooden blocks. 1Awesome Blocks - Encourages Self Play! These are great magnet blocks and the best part is they encourage self play! We bought them for our 8 month old son who loved them right away. He figured out how to pull them apart and I would make a funny "oh" sound and he would laugh so hard. Now he loves to stick them to anything he can, especially the baby gate. He is not "building" anything with them yet but they are still providing great entertainment. And when my nephews, 3 and 4, come over they are obsessed with trying to build things with these. Great toy for your child and gift for a child ages 8 months - 5 years old. Maybe even older I just can't attest to it :) 5A fabulous product!I purchased this for my twenty-month old granddaughter for Christmas, and I (and she) could not be any more in love with a toy.At first I hesitated to spend this much money for a set of blocks, but you know what they say about grandparents spoiling the grandchildren. She loves blocks of all kinds, and I thought the idea of the magnets sounded pretty neat. When I opened the shipping package, I was a little taken aback that I had spent this much money for such a small item. The blocks are in a solid box that is approximately 6x6x4.But it's when the girl opened the box that the fun began. First of all, the blocks are lovely. They are beautifully finished in pastel colors. The finish is as smooth as a fine piece of furniture, and they click and slide easily. They attract each other, they repel each other, they can build fantastical objects or mundane objects. They can be tightly linked together to form solids, or they can be linked in other ways to make bridges, cages for little animals, and much more. Some of the best features:- A lovely "idea" booklet is included.- The magnets are so deeply embedded in the blocks that both my son and I spent time wondering "How do they do that?"- Toddlers love blocks, and they also love to knock block structures down; these blocks do not stray far from their brothers, so lost blocks may be a thing of the past.- The packaging is simple, but sturdy - very understated, rather than showy.- As an added plus, the company is devoted to sustainable business practices and the blocks are made in Honduras, where the employees are paid working wages, and much of the profit goes to reforestation (I may be overstating, but you get the idea).- The blocks will not get old; I envision adding to her set for many years to come.My advice: do not let the apparently dear price dissuade you; these blocks are worth every penny. 5Disappointed, would not recommend.Very disappointed in this product. I had high expectations at this price point and while the block feel and look high quality, the magnets are weak and challenging for my 3 year old the figure out the polarity. Some of the blocks are only magnetic on the ends so building some of the models pictured is challenging even when assisted by an adult. Definitely would not waste the money on the blocks again. 3I love Tegu blocksI love Tegu blocks! My 18 month old mostly likes to stick these to metal things around our house (Fridge, coffee table legs, etc.), but I'm confident that as he gets older he'll enjoy building with these. They're lovely, bright colors and I like having wooden, battery-free toys when possible. 5
