Customer Reviews

Dont buy !!My toddler flipped off the front of thid the very first 30 seconds riding it . The handle bar is way to low . Unsafe for young toddlers . The handle was below my sons belly button, when you lean in to take off with feet your child could flip off . If they raised the handle bar higher they wouldn't be able to flip off the front... this product got great reviews but IMO its unsafe for young toddlers and isn't worth $80!$40 tops ... and worse when my child flipped off and smacked his face on the floor i decided to return this item . And they only gave me a partial refund 1Well worth the $$I bought 3 of these for my children for Christmas gifts (different characters/animals-ladybug, pig & bumblebee). My children are 2, 4 & 7. All 3 of my children are very tall and my oldest is the height of your average 11-12 year old. It make it VERY difficult to buy her toys that she can ride on due to her height and weight (she s as tall as a 12 year old so she weights as much as a 12 year old). She s still young enough to where she still wants to play with her younger siblings so, she still wants to do and play with what a 5 year old would want to play with. That being said, these are AMAZING!!!! Let me say that again, AAAAAAAAAAAAMAZING! I always feel bad when my 7 year old is too big for a lot of ride-on toys that state they are for her age but not for her height or weight. She can fit on these and chase around her siblings on this Wheely Bug just like her 2 younger siblings can. Yes, her legs are long for this toy but she can still ride on this without the worry of breaking it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this toy for your child if you are looking for something that will last for years to come. I got the idea to buy these for my 3 children because for Thanksgiving, we went over to my friends house and she had pulled out her 2 Wheely bugs for all of the kids to play with while the adults were still finishing dinner. I was amazed that my 7 year old was able to ride it & my 2 year old loved it as well. I asked her where she bought her 2 Wheely Bugs, she told me she bought them from a children s boutique when her 2 children were 2 & 3 years old. Her children are now 11 & 12 years old! She also told me that her children used these ALL THE TIME & they LOVED them. She let them use them inside and out but she never left these outside in the backyard. Her Wheely bugs looked brand new so I was amazed when she told me how old her Wheely Bugs were. If you have a young child and you want something to last (as long as they are willing to still play with it) then absolutely buy this toy. I just bummed I didn t buy these sooner when my oldest was 2 or 3. Oh, and I would also recommend to buy the large Wheely bug so it can grow with your child. I would only recommend the small one if your child is very petite (small) and not going to be a very tall child. Is it expensive, YES! Is it well worth it? ABSOLUTELY!!! Hope your children enjoy this toy as much as my children do.Also: I was not paid to write a positive review nor was I given anything for free. Just an honest review of a great and very well made product. 5Wheelie-bug VS Y-bikeFor Christmas my 11mo old recieved this wheelie bug (in small) and a red Y-Bike.Preferences can be totally random with these little dudes, but my guy (he's been walking since 8 months, for what it's worth) hardly touches the wheelie bug. When I do sit him on it, he'll happily accept a push around on it, and then get off.The Y-bike on the other hand, he gets on by himself and proudly scoots around the house. It's totally adorbs. Y-bike for the win.Although, since he's my 3rd baby, I can confidently say that, just because he ignores this cute little cow now, doesn't mean it won't be his favorite toy in three months and his Y-bike will be abandoned. These are just my almost 1 year olds initial reactions to these two items, I am hoping this might help someone decide on their child's first scoot-around. 4Dangerous toy with small round parts! My 19month old daughter walked into the kitchen where I was cooking dinner and started to make gagging sounds, her face quickly turned bright red. There was some drool coming out of her mouth and I realized she was choking on something. I quickly picked her up and started to whack on her back and a small round washer about the size of a nickel flew out of her mouth! Where did this come from? Unbeknownst to me one of the wheels on her WHEELY BUG had come off. There are two small washers that separate the wheel from the base. This toy is a hazard and I hope if you choose to keep it in your home that you will check the wheels are tightly secured because it s not worth the consequences if your child chokes to death. 1There are lots of Opinions on Large vs Small - but please read this review as it compares the sizes AND outdoor vs indoor use. Before buying this wheely I spent a LOT of time reading through all the reviews as to whether to get the small or large wheely for my 1.5 year old boy/girl twins. And I made the WRONG decision - so I am hoping I can help others.I have big kids (95% on height) so I figured I should buy the big one so they can grow into it. When I first bought it for them they pushed it around with their hands, but quickly got bored because their legs were too short to ride on it. Now that they are 2.4 years old and their legs are long enough, they are more excited to ride a tricycle or a scooter, and this is too 'sedate' for them.So this is what I would recommend. Measure the inseam of your kid's legs. If they are 14" or longer, then buy the large size. But if their legs are shorter and you want them to ride on it now, then buy the small size. Now, something to think about - I keep the wheelys outside - so my kids have a lot of options of things to ride on. So they hardly ever choose the wheelys. If this was an 'inside toy' with no other exciting options to ride on, then they would probably use it more. So, to summarize: - legs (inseam) shorter than 13" - buy the small. - legs (inseam) longer than 14" - buy the large - if your kids are already on tricycles, scooters or anything that goes a bit faster, they will be bored with this outside - and I would plan on it being an 'inside toy' where it will be used more. - if you are going to use it inside, then I would buy the smaller one because it will take up less space and will be more maneuverable. - Basically I should have bought the small so they could have used it when they were younger and not yet ready for faster toys.I hope this is helpful to you! 4The wheels casters are good qulaity and the wheels go over rugs and hardwood ...This wheely bug is very cute and it seems very well made. The wheels casters are good qulaity and the wheels go over rugs and hardwood with out any trouble. The issue with the wheely bug is the mixed reviews on what size to get. I have ordered for a 20 month old. She is large for her age so i ordered the large cow. She could just touch her feet when sitting on the cow but looking at the way her legs where bent i could see she wasn't the right size. Luckily i saw a used small pig for sale locally and picked it up. Yes the small looks tiny and maybe to small for her but she loved it and zoomed around the house! i liked them so much i kept the large for when she out grows the small! would recommend and if it cost less i would by for gifts as well! I would buy the small for kids 2.5 and under and the large for older kids. 5Precious!This is a high quality item, and it is so darling! My daughter just turned 1 and she is still getting the hang of walking, but she loves the plush face of the hedgehog and riding around (with help from mom and dad) on it! She is 90th percentile for height, and her feet drag on the floor when we push her. Once she learns how to propel herself around though, I think the height will be perfect. Right now she pushes it around on her knees - its so cute! I personally like the size of the small wheely bug, in contrast to many reviews stating that the large size is the way to go. By the time she needs a larger size, we'll get her a bike and other ride-ables I'm sure! One thing I didn't expect was that the plush part is actually a cover, so you have to stretch it onto the wood base and could potentially remove it for spot cleaning if need be. Haven't had to do this yet, and doubt I will try putting it in the washer, but potentially a plus! It did require four hands to stretch the thing on though...its a very tight fit! 5One of the best toys, and the small one is fine, even for big kids!We love the wheely bug! Some people have commented on it not being appropriate for one-year-olds, and confusion about the sizing. Hopefully this will help.We bought our first for our son for his first birthday, and unfortunately he wasn't very interested in it at that point. He liked the antenae, but didn't do much riding until he turned two. Since then, it has become a favorite toy (these days, it's an excavator or a garbage truck, more often than not). He flies around the house on it. He'll turn three in a few weeks. Our daughter, fifteen months younger, started pushing the wheely bug around before she could walk, first on her knees, then standing, then running while holding onto the handles. She now walks and runs unassisted, and rides the wheely bug easily at a year and a half. It totally depends on the kid as to when they'll be interested, like most things! As far as sizing, our son is very big (90th percentile), and our daughter is tiny (<3rd percentile). Both ride the small bug easily and fast! I wouldn't be concerned about the small one being too small. We'll buy a larger one soon for our son, so that the kids can race (they play a lot of chase right now with one riding the bug and the other running), but I know he would also be content with the small one for quite some time! Friends, ages 5 and 7, seem to have no trouble with the small bug, either--I think it's just easily maneuverable, even for the bigger kids. 5A year later and it's still greatI bought the pig version in small last year for my son when he was almost 18 months. A year of use has proven that this toy is not only high quality and sturdy, but it has been able to keep my son's interest. It moves well wood floors as well as rough cement and in any direction. We have a steep driveway and although the wheely can move pretty quickly, my son has never gone out of control. If you're looking for a quality item that will be played with well beyond the novelty period, this it it.Sizing: I spent a great deal of time hemming and hawing about what size to buy. At the time of this purchase my son was about 30 inches in height, currently he's just shy of 34 inches (he's been around the 10th percentile). In the end I followed another reviewer's guideline: measure the inseam of the child, if it's 13 inches or smaller then purchase the small version and if it's 14 inches are larger then go with the large. Although measuring his inseam now would lead me to purchase the larger version, I still feel he is most comfortable moving around on the small version (I can even sit and move around on it). 5Mom of twins - get the small size unless you have very big kids - Wheely Bug 1000x better than cheap plastic ride on toysBought the small size ladybug design a few years ago for my now 3 1/2 year old daughter. Have to say that now - even at 38 inches she loves to zoom this thing around the house (maybe not such a great thing as we don't have a big house). These are far superior to the plastic ride on toys from Fisher Price and the like that half the time can't really turn. This is on casters that all move independently - can move with easy any way you want it to. Every kid that comes to my house loves this thing. I wouldn't recommend the large size unless you have very big toddlers. As I said - my 38" inch tall 3 year old still thinks the small size is just fine...and most kids by 3 would rather be riding other things like a trike or a big wheel. Despite zooming around on this thing, I am not aware that she has ever tipped it over or run one of the wheels over her foot while riding it. I just hope that I don't have to get a second one for my twins - then we might actually have issues in the house because these move relatively fast (bumper cars + no padding) ....guess I will just have to take them away when they're 2 and probably capable of really zooming them fast. 5
